NCH Software's VideoPad Video Editor Professional is a full-featured video-editing tool that is surprisingly easy to use. It can combine numerous clips and soundtracks in a wide range of video formats into movie projects, or build an entire production out of a single clip. It supports drag-and-drop editing, real-time effects previews, format conversion, importing and exporting files, captions, narration, and more. It can burn DVDs, HDs, and Blu-ray discs and output video to portable devices. It can also capture video from camcorders and other devices.
It's a rare video editor that you can just fire up and start making movies with, but that's what we did with VideoPad Pro. We browsed to a cartoon saved as an MPG file. VideoPad Pro scanned it and displayed it in the left half of the split main view, with its frames running sequentially along the bottom of a main preview window in a scrollable, time-marked view, and also displayed its information in the left-hand Media List panel. Pressing the Play button played the clip normally. Extracting clips from the main clip was incredibly simple; using the timeline, we selected an In Point and an Out Point and clicked the green down arrow. VideoPad extracted the clip and displayed it below in the Video Track section, which is just above the similar Audio Track. In this manner, we quickly cut up and rearranged the cartoon out of sequence, and then previewed it in the right-hand pane. The transitions between merged clips were seamless. We could save our finished clip or subject it to a wide range of processing and production tools. Toolbar icons let us quickly insert blank spaces or add narration, captions, and other effects. Clicking Build Movie called up a dialog that let us select the video format and whether to burn a disc, send it to a portable device, upload it to YouTube, and other choices.
With smartphones, video sharing sites, and Webcams everywhere, there's no lack of raw video resources, just a need for a powerful, easy-to-use tool like VideoPad Video Editor Professional to put your projects together, polish them up, and present them in the format of your choice. More than just fast and competent, though, we also found it fun to use.

If the actual product is any good, then the trial version is doing it ABSOLUTELY NO FAVORS. I figured I'd try it out, it couldn't have gotton so many downloads for no reason right? And it had a good CNET review. Now I'm just itching to remove it from my computer (alas I need it for something, so I must wait a little longer). So I fired this baby up, and put everything together, really simple yes? Except I had to take long routes to do everything, and when I needed to have an effect on an image, the effect timeline didn't match up with the project timeline so I had to GUESS! Not cool! Needless to say I was wrong in my guessing several times. Having to put a slideshow together with exact timing was a trainwreck. (YEAH, A PROJECT AS SIMPLE AS A SLIDESHOW!)
And then I rendered. Yeah, Final Project? The black background that should appear when you don't have an image/Video in a certain area does this weird dissapearing act and blinks in and out randomly, and not to mention it removed all of the white area in one of my images (hey, it's not supposed to take artistic lisences here... I am!)twice. And then it deleted a whopping amount of the subtitles I added. (I had 10 added, it kept 3, and completely deleted them from my .vpj file... I have to go back and add them. And fuss with "Exact timing". hehe... I am not amused. -
"Powerful but a disappointment"

When it works, it works great. Very powerful and intuitive.
Cons
Buggy, and when you change users or even try to reinstall NCH's own repair patch, your very expensive license code doesn't work any more. Also full of crapware.

Not worth paying for, especially if you have to pay over and over for the same license.

Pros
I was looking for a product to use for my YouTube gaming videos and I could not find any one that I could merge the facecam with the video easily, and this is the one I absolutely adored! It was so easy and well organised and it was just a pleasure to use. It also didn't lag at all when I recorded my facecam right in the the program, which is another good thing.
Cons
I really don't have any bad things to say about this product. It's just so amazing! 'w'
Summary
Overall, this was a great editing tool and I would suggest this to anyone who needs a good software to make YouTube gaming videos, to fun slideshow etc. My whole family loves this and I give it 5/5 stars! VERY GREAT SOFTWARE NCH!!!!! 'w'

"Buggy, frustrating"

It's free. It has a lot of features.
Cons
1. When putting multiple video footage together the software distorts the first 1 - 2 seconds of the each video segment so I need to delete and loose this footage.
2. When adding text overlays in the editor the footage looks ok only to find after creating the movie the finished footage has the text the wrong size or completely missing.
3. When editing your footage the software can be buggy. Adding a 8 - 10 second title screen can be completely missing when viewing the final footage.
4. When saving your movie in the free version there are limited video format options to save the file as.Summary
