At its best, the voice quality was the most superior I had come across at that time. Which is why I bought it.
Inconsistent sound volume in different parts of the program. Some of the voices supplied were like cartoon character's voices.
I mailed NCH for support (re the sound volume) the day after I bought it, (12 Dec 2016) and still haven't had a reply (other than the automatic acknowledgment). Other users have asked the same questions re volume.
I am going to delete it from my PC and will hesitate before buying from NCH again.
It does convert text to speech. Sound quality of the generated files is typical of the genre: adequate to understand what is being read, but very noisy.
I was getting ready to uninstall this program because I have other (totally free) utilities that do the same thing, and that would have been that. However, there is no uninstaller, and the application has a service running in the background that prevents manual deletion. So, it became the usual detective drama to kill the processes, delete the files, find & remove the registry entries and cross my fingers that there aren't other residual artifacts still gumming up my system. THAT's the Con that earned this product an unfavorable review.
