"Superior Windows Menuing and Program Launching System"

April 12, 2014  |  By getmeek

 |  Version: True Launch Bar 6.6

Pros

You need to try it (free version) to understand its power and usefulness. It creates extremely flexible menus that effectively replace the Windows taskbar (although you can still use taskbar with it). The menus can be customized to an almost infinite degree, including font, color, size, placement on the screen, popping out, etc. Menus can be nested to unlimited levels.

I have used it for at least 10 years. I have used it on Windows 64 Pro with none of the problems described in the other review.

Cons

Yuri Kobets, the developer, sometimes takes a few days before responding to my requests for improvements. But he usually makes the improvements suggested, issuing frequent updates and betas.

"Severely damages some Win 7 64 Pro Systems"

February 15, 2013  |  By Barzillai

 |  Version: True Launch Bar 6.2

Pros

None unless rendering Windows Explorer inoperable is a benefit.

Cons

1. Would not install on my Dell 4600 Precision Mobile Workstation Windows 7 64 Pro computer, or it installed in a way that crashed Windows Explorer.

2. Caused Windows Explorer not to work. I lost all desktop icons and my Windows Taskbar and Tray. I could not access any programs, or Programs and Features, or files, My Computer.

3. Caused Windows Explorer not to work in Safe Mode.

When I couldn't get Windows Explorer to work in Safe Mode I got worried.

4. I called my computer's warranty tech support at 10:15 PM Friday evening February 15, 2013 and they told me how to use Safe Mode, Task Manager, New Task, type in Control Appwiz to get to the Programs and Features screen. And I uninstalled True Launch Bar.

5. But then I found that Windows Quick Launch Bar in my tray had disappeared. I put it back and my 2.5 hours with True Launch Bar came to an end.

Summary

This is a horrible program on some Windows 7 64 Pro systems.

Looking back, maybe the day a big asteroid just missed the earth and a small one exploded over Russia was a sign that I would regret downloading True Launch Bar.

"Wunder-Bar !!"

December 15, 2012  |  By Word-Man-Chuck

 |  Version: True Launch Bar 6.2

Pros

Wow! Where to Begin?! Under my (now Old) Operating System I was using a Fantastic Launcher--everything was a keystroke (or mouse-click) away. When I moved to Windows 7 (Professional 64-bit), I tested a _TON_ of launchers before FINALLY finding "True Launch Bar". True Launch Bar Returned me to Launch-Bar-Heaven!

Let's see . . . TLB uses Zero System Resources . . . Everything is a Keystroke OR Mouse-Click Away. Extremely Customizable. Wow! What an utterly Fabulous Launcher !! Works PERFECT for launching •Software, •Folders, •Shortcuts, •URLs, •System Tools ... ANYTHING!

Cons

__ ZERO Cons! __

Summary

When using True Launch Bar, Remember to name menu items with a "&" before the "Hot" Character. Example: To Fire Up your "OneNote" Software by pressing "N", simply record the name as One&Note.

"Massively Improves the Efficiency of Windows"

May 11, 2011  |  By getmeek

 |  Version: True Launch Bar 5.4

Pros

TLB supplements the Windows taskbar with an infinite number of toolbars that can be placed anywhere on the screen (autohide optional). The toolbars and the subsidiary menus and items can be precisely tweaked. The author swiftly answers questions.

Cons

The version that integrates with the Windows taskbar seemed a bit troubled on Windows 7, but the "standalone" version of TLB works great on Windows 7.

Summary

I would never try to make a Windows toolbar again. TLB is infinitely easier and more powerful. I am surprised that Bill Gates has not bought out Yuri, the author.

"True Launch is one of my favorites, a "must install""

August 27, 2009

 |  Version: True Launch Bar 4.4

Pros

Basically, I almost never use the start menu, all my programs that I actually use are in folders in True Launch Bar. I organize the folders and sub-folders with shortcuts. Then I assign an icon to the folder so that I can always pick the right one.

Cons

There is nothing that I dislike about this program, and nothing that bothers me... I don't think I could come up with a way to improve it. It is so configurable, you can make it do whatever you like.

Summary

I hate going through the start menu, just because it gets so cluttered. Even if I have organized my start menu really well, with the constant updates to all the different programs, it gets messy again really soon because they all (with only a few exceptions) put new entries in the start menu when you install the update. Everything I run on my computer regularly I have a shortcut for in True Launch Bar. It speeds things up and never gets cluttered.

"Superior, advanced, flexible quick launcher"

August 25, 2009  |  By palaghar

 |  Version: True Launch Bar 4.4

Pros

True Launch Bar is easy to setup and use. Suitable for any type of user and customizable. Simple yet advanced. Makes users productive and efficient. There is no other product like it in the market. It delivers what it promises and is reliable.

Cons

There is nothing to not like about this program.

Summary

Sure Windows has a quick launch feature but needless to say there are many shortcomings in it ranging from ease of use to extremely basic and limited in capability. Quick launch is supposed to enable a user gain efficiency in running (usually) most frequently used programs or applications. But not only is it very cumbersome to use, Windows quick launch is limited in capability. The shortcuts in Windows quick launch cannot be organized. Quick launch is not customizable. It is not skinnable. It cannot be made more advanced. But, one need not be disheartened because there is a solution ? a perfect solution to this problem ? a perfect replacement for Windows quick launch. It is True Launch Bar. Now don?t be mistaken there may be other software vendors who advertise a startup launcher but those programs are no where near True Launch Bar when it comes to competing with it. Plus those programs are not true replacement of Windows quick launch. They are simply Windows quick launch in disguise. Those programs are akin to old wine in new bottle.

True Launch Bar has many advanced and superior features than the standard quick launch and rival quick launch programs. All of the features are geared to make the computer users life easy, efficient, and productive. Take for example the simple concept of grouping and organizing shortcuts. If you have many shortcuts instead of having a long list of shortcuts, you can group the shortcuts in True Launch Bar for quick access and sensible organization of shortcuts. True Launch Bar drastically cuts down the time it takes to locate and run a shortcut. I believe this is one of the greatest strengths of True Launch Bar.

Another extraordinary feature of True Launch Bar is its ability to host plugins. Plugins are small programs that reside in True Launch Bar which can be run to perform specific tasks. For instance, Media Control plugin can be used to take control of the player. Now not all computers or keyboards are equipped with media controls but this plugin provides such controls at finger tips.

True Launch Bar also boasts many useful features such as Windows Vista compatibility, password protection, drag and drop, hotkeys, aero glass effects, XP visual styles and icons, customization of skins, context menus, etc. All in all True Launch Bar is an excellent replacement for Windows quick launch. It is very easy to be satisfied with True Launch Bar and very hard to not love it. Anyone will clearly see the benefits of owning True Launch Bar in little to no time. It is affordable, easy to use, rich, flexible, customizable, professional, and above all reliable. True Launch Bar delivers what it promises.

"32 and 64 bit Versions Available, Excellent Features"

October 30, 2008  |  By jsathomson

 |  Version: True Launch Bar 4.3

Pros

Works great under Vista, Vista-64 and XP. This is a very solid product. Lot's of add-ins, but don't be distracted, the core features are tremendous. I use it with no add-ins and I am happy with its very functional features.

Cons

None, Zip, Zero

Summary

It plays nicely with your system. You can turn it off and on as easily as you can the standard Windows Quick Launch bar.

This is well worth the $20. I'm a big fan of freeware, but a nominal fee is worth it for a quality product. The product key system is no hassle.
