Trend Micro Internet Security is a robust security suite, offering users an large number of features. Included are not only the boilerplate virus and spyware detection and removal abilities, but also a firewall, data theft prevention monitoring, parental controls, and system restore backup features.
In the parental control and data theft protection features, the program will monitor outgoing information and block it from being sent, including phone numbers, names, and credit card data. Trend Micro now includes a Smart Protection Network, as well, leverage anonymous data from its customers to determine when malicious threats are manifesting on user's computers and blocking the threat. There's also a gaming and video mode that the program automatically moves into when it detects gameplay or video watching, so that scans won't interrupt your relaxation. As do its competitors, Trend Micro comes with full customer support.
What this full-featured suite lacks is consistent performance, and a lack of recent independent testing numbers on Trend Micro has made it equally hard to determine how effective it is. The feature set is somewhat hamstrung compared with its older brother Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010, especially missing the Wi-Fi verification service and the smartphone protection. Still, this version is robust enough to be worth trying out during the generous 30-day trial.

Version: Trend Micro Internet Security (32-bit) 2010
"A must have for download junkies & large families!!!!"
Pros: No more costly or time consuming repairs, crashed pc's, or new laps for school every 2 yrs w/ TrendMicro as part of the family!! TrendMicro has improved tremendously & is on top of it's game. Great tech help which we can understand too
Cons: Never pay online! Even bank sites get phished. I was led to a phished site to add my info on 4 yrs ago & have paid by phone ever since
Summary: I admit in the past TN wasn't on top of it's game as they are now. W/ each passing yr their products has gotten better & better. We use to have to get new pc's every couple yrs or dig deep in our pockets from popular anti virus software missing ... read more >>

Version: Trend Micro Internet Security (32-bit) 2010
"Used for years but just Quit them"
Pros: Did the job for several years - OK
Cons: When my copy expired it stopped running instantly. Shut off virus check and firewall with out any action on my part, leaving me completly unprotected. That is terrible - in past years It stopped updating virus files but continued to run
Summary: Because of the "Cons" comment I have deleted the program and will never go back. The FUBAR of just shutting everything down is UNFORGIVABLE.

"TM protects well but slows down my computera."
Pros: The protection has been and continues to be thorough but since installing TM my computer processes have slowed.
Cons: In comparison with AVG & Kaspersky Lab, TM has slowed my desk tops and laptop and especially so when updating and scanning for viruses and other threats.
Summary: When initially purchased three years ago for two deck tops and one laptop, TM was easy to operate and effective. Unfortunately, TM has not kept pace with their competitors. I do not recommend this product.
