Despite an unconventional installation, this free Matrix-themed screensaver rises above many of its competitors. Rather than putting an EXE file on your desktop, The Matrix Screen Saver forces you to copy an SCR file into your Windows directory. Like many screensavers based on the hit films, this one shows the famous Matrix code moving across your screen vertically, although it boasts a nice feature set you may not find in similar programs. You can specify the appearance of the title and scanning sequences, make the screensaver show the current time, and even choose the telephone number and username to display. Best of all, this screensaver is free and won't burden your PC with any sort of spyware. All fans of the sci-fi movies likely will dig this program.Publisher's description
From Meticulous Software :The Matrix Screen Saver emulates the Matrix code. It also shows the movie's introduction sequence. All basic features are taken from the popular film.
Version 1.11 has fixed colour mapping problem with the character codes and adjusted CPU resources allocation to use less power on fast machines and give more back the the system so that it doesn't always max out your processor.

"Old favorite still works in Windows 7"
Pros: Easy, simply, works well. Visually, just fun to watch. Free.
Cons: None that have affected me
Summary: Yeah, it's a little out-dated, old school, but I'm still a fan of the movie and I love this screensaver. Is it using the same characters as the movie itself? Don't know, don't care. It's close enough for me.

Cons: Doesn't work with my multi-monitor setup. The "text" on screen is not the same as in the movie. Very few settings.
Summary: You've seen the rest, now check out the one I'd give 5 stars:

Version: The Matrix Screen Saver 1.11
Pros: Very nice layout of customization, as well as the overall look of the falling code
allows you to insert your own name to be used in the "wake up, *****" from the original matrix, really enjoy itCons: a bit confusing to install, it downloads as a zip(to be expected), but i had to right click on the file to install it myself, but not that big a deal.
Summary: i have always enjoyed the matrix falling code, and this has finally satisfied my "needs" for it. i have tried many other code emulators, and this one is by far the best. i would definitely recommend this screensaver to anyone, i already have two f... read more >>
