  Pros

  Once you "pay" for the license it converts all songs in a single batch. I had a mix of mp3 and wma, and needed to convert them to play them in my car. That worked fine.

  Cons

  I am not sure it normalizes music by default...there is a box to check when ripping from a disc but that was not checked (and I didn't rip from a disc). I couldn't tell that it normalized the songs - still quite a bit of variance. Checking the box and normalizing with either RMS or Peak created horrible distortion in the mp3s. I had to delete and start over. The instructions said to set it to 100% but I set it to 80% so perhaps there is an with that setting. After normalizing the music it was louder that before...so maybe 70% would work. Not sure why the app says to set it at 100%. The last thing that seemed off was the folder paths. When I setup a specific path (Artist, Album, Song) the app didn't recognize the instructions and forced me to fix it. The default setting for folder paths was a completely different format than the lines of instructions and examples. It is like they change the app but forgot to update the instructions.

  Summary

  For straight up file conversion, the app its great. There are some naggy things that make me feel it didn't get full quality (normalizing caused distortion, could build my own folder paths successfully). However it is fast and otherwise works fine. Your download is a 30 day trial and you are limited to the number of conversions you can do at once (the software is not free to keep using).

• FREE is misleading

  Selection of files is very easy and conversion is fast.

  Cons

  The "Free" version only lets you convert 5 files at a time and then after converting about 30 files it locks up and is no longer free. Misleading and deceptive. Just say it has a free trial and don't use the word FREE.

  If you need the program it might be worth it.

  Pros

  I tried the 14 day freebee and it was easy to use converting audio recordings from my Android phone to MP3.

  Cons

  Beware though: price on line is US dollars - multiply that by about 1.31 or so and you get $31 Aussie dollars.

  Summary

  Now I have to explore their other audio editing software and how to download Soundcloud files

  Pros

  Converts files with icons I don't even recognize, would have tossed, thought to drop em in the Switch window, and... Holy Moley THAT'S what happened to such and such! (re odd white file icons that qualify under the window Type heading as: File. Who knew? Not me. For dilettantes like me, with basic pc use skills, and far less than basic re file formats/types/conversion etc... the software is my hero. (And NCH's WavePad sound editor is equally amazing)

  I've used the free versions now of three NCH products, and went ahead to purchase the licensed versions, and I have been using Switch and WavePad for some time now, and no problems, like with pretty much any other software purchases...So many paid/licensed downloaded products upgrade you out of them so fast, or default to the 'free ver EVERY time licensed ver is launched, compelling repeated sagas of jumping through hoops to run the licensed- & co support gives weeks of email run around (like, cough...DUPLICATE-cough... FILE- ack...FINDER...cuoughackkggh). Anyway, I hope I didn't break any posting rules by giving both Switch Sound Plus and WavePad two thumbs up in this review, but cudos to NCH all around.

• Solved my elusive problem!

  Summary

  I had a problem I couldn't solve in tranferring Amazon music to my Cadillac CTS hard drive. Reading through forum threads, I learned that bit rate on Amazon is variable and Cadillac required fixed 256 bit rate. This solved my issue and now all my music is on my car's hard drive. Very happy!

  Easy, cheap, quick. Slide sound files into software & press convert. Remembers the destination folder (& all other settings).

  I can't think of any cons.

  Summary

  I love this program and have been using it for years. Initially purchased it to convert proprietary Sony Dig. Voice Recorder files to WAV & MP3. Now I use it to convert Sibelius WAV files to MP3. It's quick, it's easy, and a solid performer.

  I never read that this was a demo version. I converted a couple of songs a week ago I tried to convert 5 just now and, a screen popped telling you that I am using the trial version. And, when I tried to convert the files, it said I had purchase.

  Pros

  I can take my tapes, both casette and 8-track and record in WMA format, then use switch to convert to mp3. Great product. I use for home use only, as I am not a commercial enterprise.

  Cons

  none. No probles at all.

  Summary

  Great product, easy to use, and a big help in digitizing my music, which consists of over 400 vinyl albums, 500 8-tracks, and over 800 cassettes. Most of which go back to the early 60's and early 70's and late 80's. I love the program.
