Although this version of Stoik Video Converter Pro disables a few of the paid program's features, it still makes a perfectly functional choice for simple video conversions. This app's interface isn't its strong point. For example, adding files to transform isn't as intuitive as it could be, and the wording often can be confusing; it took us a few minutes to discover that the Record icon was how to begin converting a clip. Still, once you get up to speed, you'll appreciate that the application can batch-convert files among a few of the most popular codecs, including AVI, WMV, and MPEG. However, we should note that, though Stoik Video Converter Pro will accept MPEG files, it strangely won't output to that format. The program gives you a decent amount of control over how your new files appear, allowing you to configure such attributes as compression, frame rate, and size. Folks with simple conversion needs likely will find this application a suitable pick.Publisher's description

Version: Stoik Video Converter Pro 2.1.3
Pros: I used to use this program when converting WMV's to something more useful. My preference was to DivX. I love the fact that it has batch capability.
Cons: The DivX file it creates (using the codec I bought from DivX themselves) apparently isn't 100% compatible. While it will play with VLC, VLC complains that the file needs to be repaired.
Summary: I'm no longer using this program ever since I discovered that there is a filter for VirtualDub that allows it to (once again) handle WMV's. Unfortunately, VDub doesn't inherently have batch capability, although I suspect it can be done via AVISynth ... read more >>
