This program may lack a wealth of features, but it's extremely effective in protecting your computer against home-page hijacking. StartPage Guard uses a simple but functional interface to prevent Trojan horses or other malicious programs from making unauthorized changes to your browser's start and search pages. Options include the ability to select your home page from a drop-down menu or input a URL of your choice. The SearchPage Guard feature lets you designate separate URLs for your default search page, search toolbar, and search assistant. Users also can set one URL in the Single Address field to cover all search functions. "This Program Works Great!"

Summary
I bought my present computer from a Chinese lady, works fine and it was a good deal. Only one problem with it--the IE home page was set to qq.com, a Chinese scumware site. I tried changing the home page to Yahoo, first through IE Tools, then through Spywareblaster Tools, then through Spybot S & D, and finally through Hijack This...nothing doing, every time I rebooted, my home page was reset to qq. In desperation, I even tried resetting the home page through regedit (not wise, for someone who doesn't know exactly what they're doing). Nothing worked. Every time I rebooted, right back to the @%&$! qq scumbags! Finally, I found StartPage Guard, and this simple program did the trick! It's the only thing that has worked for me. Once in a while, when I open IE, the qq home page appears, but then I just close my browser and then it opens in Yahoo again. Thank goodness for StartPage Guard!

"Perfect protection against malware"

Pros
Protects your startpage at any time and also your search pages are safe now.
Easy interface and easy to use.
Cons
When you select "Check when Windows start" it does so automatically.
I tried to turn it off. But most of the time it just came back.
I think I finally managed to turn it off.
That's the only minor con that I could find.

Summary
This product will make sure your start page is correct if you set it up that way. The problem is when your ISP browser uses for example MSN Explorer and your ISP, in my case Juno uses a modified Explorer. The Juno Explorer will load anyway. I'm sure other ISP's with browsers will do the same.

A cute little program that WORKS! so easy to configure and will STOP anyone from changing your startpage - I still run this program even though I have winpatrol and all the others as I know if any of them fail - this little lady will stop em dead. She even shoots the hijacker with her rifle if threatened! Looks great 2.

I can recommend this programme I have been using it for 5 or 6 months. User-friendly and uncomplicated. No problems at all. It does work. You may get Directories like e.g. MSN Messenger and (Yahoo Messenger which I installed from choice) popping up when you logon, but its not because they may have hijacked your chosen Browser setting, it's because they are probably ticked in your Setup at Startup, from where you need to untick them.
