From Mithril Software:Start Menu Cleaner is a freeware utility that removes unneeded shortcuts and folders added by most programs during installation. These folders and shortcuts often remain in the Start menu after removal of their corresponding programs, leaving a messy buildup of orphaned shortcuts. Start Menu Cleaner scans all shortcuts in this menu and removes empty folders and shortcuts that point to files that no longer exist. The result is a smaller, cleaner, more efficient Start menu. Version: Start Menu Cleaner 1.51
"Why Do You Need A Program For This?"
Pros: Well, if you're VERY inexperienced with computers, this is OK.
Cons: If you actually use your computer, one of the first things you should do is customize your own start menu. Please make me happy and do it yourself, it's very easy:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
Alternatively, rearrange your personal start menu (mine of course is bwatters):
C:\Documents and Settings\bwatters\Start Menu
From here you can do whatever you want to your start menu quickly! It's so simple, why would you ever use a program that couldn't possibly customize it as well as you can yourself?

"doesn't catch all invalid links"
Pros: Easy to use. Simple and straight forward. Free..
Cons: Doesn't catch all invalid links which is the main purpose of the program. Program i made myself does a better job but not allowed to tell according to cnet policies. Try it, may work for you but not for me.

"Probably good but found nothing"
Pros: Its free quick and easy.It's probably that I have "Ccleaner" on my system.I did a Ccleaner clean up,then ran "start menu cleaner" and it found nothing.So unless you don't have any form of registry/file cleaner etc, then use this tool.

Pros: Nothing good
Cons: This update is far worse than the original programme which worked without any problems. This programme does not do the job. It leaves 'loose' shortcuts and empty folders in the Start tree.

Pros: My start menu was getting bloated and I wanted to check for invalid links without actually going through it manually. This is exactly what I was hoping for.
