Star Wars Galaxies is designed to immerse players in the rich Star Wars universe. It features dynamic role-playing ground-based adventures across multiple planets in the classic Star Wars timeframe. Gameplay offesr a unique combination of combat, exploration, social interaction, specialized missions, and daring quests. Players explore multiple Star Wars environments on foot or in land vehicles. Traveling between planets is accomplished through the use of public shuttles, which ferry characters from world to world.
This trial lets new players try Star Wars Galaxies for free for 10 days. No credit card is required.

Do not base your decision on the game based on the demo,, the demo is far better and beefier than the actual game,,, so on that note if you iffy on the demo then your opinion will straight up worsen as you get in to the game. This game is useless... lack of profession options,, everyone pretty much has the same gear,, there is no variety, the questing is beyond stupid i can go on and on. Soe doesnt give a crap about the customer either.. i promise this is not hate spam, its the true deal.. Mxo died.......planet side is on the way there if not already.. and Starwars galaxies is only surviving because of the name "starwars" if it was another name, the game would be dead already also.. guaranteeed. HEED MY WARNING!

Horrible. Took me 6 fricking hours to download. Game play is worse than okay. The graphics barely pass acceptable. I warn everyone to stay away from the worst game of the century.

TERRIBLE ROLE PLAY. everybody is now a jedi and it is very unrealistic. there are only like 6 professions now and the game was ruined by the new patch. in the beginning when jedi were rare and stuff it was a great game. it went from a 5 star game to a 2 star game.

Graphics:
Water effects are nice, tons of stuff to see and explore. Some visual bugs here and there, nothing big.
Sound: Lots of 'star warsy' sound affects and music, but the music tends to get repetitive once the novelty wears off.
Gameplay:
The sped up combat is actually enjoyable to me.
They ARE releasing expertise for the 9 professions. As of now they have released them for Jedi, bounty hunter, smuggler, and officer.
The game itself isn't bad, people tend to be nicer (not counting immature trial users) than lots of free games.
The crafting system is the best I've seen to date, if you like crafting, this may be the game for you...UNLESS *see below in cons*#1
Options customization, lots of stuff to do there.
Making in-game macros ect.
PvP is much more encouraged now, so it's very common to head out to Restuss or another PvP spot, join a team, organize and have some fun :)

That being said, it's not the same as it once was...
#1 Looted items are better than most crafted weapons, and since NGE item decay is off, while this makes it nice for pvp where you die alot...it's horrible for crafters because basically once someone has a nice suit of armor they'll never need to buy another.
What was 32 'mini professions' you could drop and relearn and repeat as much as you wanted, now there are 9 more specific ones you can 'respec' between for increasing costs each time.
That doesn't mean all skills were lost, most of them still remain, (minus creature handler and bioengineer) but in a condensed 'you are this' way. If you're a bounty hunter...you're a bounty hunter. Gone are the days of distributing points between medic, doctor, and rifleman.
Now when you level you'll follow a set 'path' with the exception of expertise (not yet released for 5 profs). But expertise is basically just specializing in what you've chosen, it's nice, but nowhere near what the old system gave.
There's more jedi than crafters. Most people choose jedi at first, we all liked the concept of being jedi, but since they are a starter class they have nothing near the power you'd expect them to have. Before this was fixed by the fact that one had to work months of grinding to become a jedi.
Where as before 'grouping' was the norm, now you'll find most people solo level, that is when they actually fight things to level. For the most part it's quests, grouping is mostly reserved for difficult quests and item hunting.
So basically they took something unique, and turned it into something much closer to modern day mmorpg leveling systems. It's still decent, but it's awfully hard to accept if you've seen the brighter days like I have...
It's good, it's getting better...but that's just because they changed the system and are adding in what they took away. Maybe someday we'll see it in it's former glory, but that's a faint hope :S

sony destroyed this game let me just relate a experiance with you I bought this game close to when it came out it was one of the best MORPG out there 32 proffesions awsome game play, fun crafting system. sony in its infiante stupidity continued to change the game 3 times each one ruining some ones months, mabye even years of work. whats left of this once good game is not even worth downloading. even if you think it might be fun for you dont waste $223.86 (my monthly cost) for a game they will just pull out from under you.

Awesome detail to game. Stays within the theme of the Star Wars legacies story-wise, music-wise and in general. Multitude of quests. People are always around to team with at most times, unlike other games. If you're a Star Wars fan and happen to be 'special' enough to not get hung up on lag and bug issues, then you'll undoubtedly fall for the game very quickly, but beware...look at the cons well.

All the europeans claim this game is the bomb, but then the servers there are great I'm told also. I really don't understand the differences or why the euros have less issue with the same game in the same instances. Complain about it and they'll seem so helpful at first, but tend to go sour real quick when you prove them wrong. Lag issues were so bad for me, I cancelled my account within the third week after spending what I did to buy the full game discs. I even went so far as to reinstall Total Experience pack after I bought a new gamer-specific pc. It was made for MMORPGs specifically and still...LAG. And as if most MMORPGs aren't expensive enough to buy to begin with...(T.E. disc set cost me 60 bucks at the time I bought it)now this slap in the face to consumers...
25/month?? WHAT!? Hello? What happened to the standard 15/month we all paid to start with? That WAS the standard fee for most mmorpgs and considering your lag/bug issues you raised the price why? Who is a multi-million dollar "icon" of the gaming industry like LucasArts to try to reset the standard mmorpg fee system, causing havoc on older games now considering raising their prices cuz u did and uncertainty in pricing with newer ones? I returned to the game after four months to find a ten dollar increase per month to use those crappy servers for what? It certainly isn't so you could buy better servers or fix the bugs, so it must be to just line your pockets...sad, like you need it. Generally, my issues obviously revolve around LucasArts as a bunch of swindling, finger-pointing morons who think their game is perfect and everyone's comps are what the issues are related to. Take the Star Wars name off it and it's gonna fall flat on it's face! No one would put up with the lag, never mind the awful customer service and now an unnecessary increase in monthly fee. Shame on you LucasArts, for trying to filch even more money out of your customers for what should have been a great game if not for your cheap servers, bugs and poor cust. service skills!
