Here's a download tool a step above the rest. Star Downloader Pro includes a rich set of features that not only speeds downloads but also makes it easy to schedule and manage downloads. The program includes all the needed elements: good browser integration, seamless resumption of interrupted downloads, simple scheduling, and automatic sorting of files based on type or download date. We liked the program interface, as it's well-designed and intuitive. To start downloading, all you have to do is click the appropriate link in your browser (Internet Exporer, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera are supported) or copy a link to the program clipboard. A special program tool helps manage multiple downloads. For example, when downloading multiple files (such as images) from a Web page, Star Downloader extracts all the needed links, filters them, and then sets up an efficient queue for download. I like nothing about it, it cost me a heck of a lot of time.
Cons
It simply does not run well on any of our computers. Brain lock, missed downloads. Darned dialogues can't be removed from the right click lists. Just lousy all the way around.

I really like this stardownload because it download faster and its will connect again later on if you want and you can download anything at anytime even when you went to sleep, it will keep download for you

the things i dont like about this is the 1.45version they have a error with the window vista and that a free version, but the version 1.52 with work very fine but only a trial version, I heard if you make an account on star download you may get it for free..and i register already..so how can i get it free

After using the free version for a few months (about 3 years ago), I bought the StarDownloader Pro version, even though the free version was buggy. Well, the Pro version was almost as buggy, but I'm thinking "no problem", the ongoing development will cure these ills.
So, it is now going on 3 years since Pro 1.52 was released. No bug fixes or improvements since!
I abandoned using StarDownloader in December 2006 because I got fed up with having the software just not working correctly. And, since development has come to a screeching halt, with no indication of any future releases, I have come to the conclusion that I was ripped off! Virtually, as soon as I pay for software that was no better than the free version, development disappeared into the woodwork!
Absolutely pathetic!!!

It USED to work well. The Pro Version 1.52 won't work with Firefox v1.5. Get the FREE version -- they actually updated that one. Duh.
Cons
Can you imagine the idiots that update their free version for Firefoxv 1.5 and do NOT update the Pro version? I and others have been waiting for half a year!!!
