It seems clear, fast. I haven't tried out all of the features yet. I suggest waiting until you are home to do the firmware update. You are warned that it may not work remotely. Maybe that was the problem one reviewer had.

Summary
It's a great product. I travel a great deal and I'm overseas several times a year. Everyone I show Slingbox to, LOVES it. They all want it. I'm a musician and I tour and travel constantly. It's nice to have my home television in english when I'm in Europe.

Previous version of SlingPlayer was working fine, then while on vacation i decided to install the new 10.0.10 version. Now when i open the SlingPlayer i can watch my home cable box for 3 seconds before the software crashes on my MacBook

It did NOT ask to update the firmware of my Slingbox, but the SlingPlayer is streaming my content anyway. I don't notice a change in quality streaming over my local network, but it looks as good as I expect it to since it's only hooked up to via an S-Video cable.

The quality on MB Pro is noticeably better, but still far from what I'd except on my local network running 802.11n. (My SlingBox is connected to my Airport Extreme via Ethernet.) The offsite is quality is mediocre on my MB Pro with an upstream connection of about 1.5Mbit. And on my iPhone it's f***ing terrible. It's all so 1998... Windoze upgrades and features galore, and the Mac a distant afterthought. Oh well, maybe Windoze 7 will crash it all.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I've upgraded my firmware using v1.0.9 and speeds are no longer dropping off after 2/3 minutes. Before 1.0.8 I had to use the firmware from v1.0.4 as the firmware in v1.0.6 and v1.0.7 was suspect on a Classic. This new version also works well on the Pro and AV models. The AV firmware (1.2.12) is identical to that in v2 for Windows, and the Pro firmware is actually a higher version number (1.3.36). The Pro has a marked improvement in speed over 1.0.8. The AV and Classic have not been upgraded and probably never will be as they describe them as "legacy" boxes. The software still doesn't have all the features found in the Windows version, but it's another step forward. Why are Sling so slow in giving us the extra features found in Windows v2?

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />My recent update has been nothing but trouble. I can only use my SlingPlayer in its minimized form, meaning a 2 X 3 inch window. Trying to increase the size of the window causes the the player to crash, meaning it shuts itself off and a report for Mac is prepared. During the same period there was a major update of the mac OSX. I have re-downloaded the soft and replaced it to no avail. I want to re load the firmware to the my SlingBox AV, but despite what their documentation says, that file is not available for downloading anymore. I thought the firmware might be the problem, because I was traveling when the update was released (.this means I was more than 6000 miles from a US border). I thought sending the info from Argentina to my SingBox in the US might be problematic. Finally, the SlingPlayer support is non-existent unless you pay them another $30. It felt real weird to me that after I update my working software, the new software fails and the people who provided the new software want me to pay a $30 fee. Totally weird!
