This screensaver lacks the adware that drags down many of its competitors, but it also lacks a few attributes we like to see. As you're likely to guess from its title, the program lets you watch a flock of 3D seagulls soaring over the ocean, either by daylight or at sunset. In terms of presentation, Seagulls Screen Saver 3D has its ups and downs. On one hand, we do think the appearance of the sky is detailed and accurate, especially when viewed at sundown. However, we didn't find the design of the birds to be nearly as believable, and their robotic, mechanical movements only add to that impression. We also were perplexed that the program lacks appropriate sound effects, most notably the unmistakable cry of the seagull. It's a shame that the demo disables the majority of the customization options, leaving you little room to tweak the program's behavior and appearance. In spite of its negatives, we think fans of coastal wildlife may still find this screensaver worth a try.
From Wireless Central:
Relax with this screensaver of wild seagulls experiencing freedom of flight as they soar into the winds that sweep across rough seas, far from civilization. The screensaver has two scenes depicting seagulls flying together in the afternoon and at sunset. Each scene has four separate views that can be fixed or cycled. The number of seagulls can be set from 1 to 100, and you can set the view duration and number of seagulls to random for each screensaver activation. The screensaver is well suited to a relaxing audio CD playing in the background. The optimized 3D design allows good performance with older, hardware-accelerated video cards such as TNT2. Simplicity best describes this screensaver that celebrates the beauty of planet Earth.
