Flaunting an inappropriate title and missing a key feature, this free program is nonetheless useful for jotting down and safely storing notes. SafeSex is a sticky notes application that can fittingly assign separate titles and password protection to individual notes. We easily stretched and shrank each little window to add as much text space as we wanted, and we were given a few aesthetic options such as font preferences, background, and border color changes. We appreciate that it can keep the title bar affixed to the desktop, even over other application windows. Unlike comparable programs, SafeSex offers additional security measures like its user-specified expiration period that times out access to your notes. The app also utilizes Blowfish encryption algorithms to encrypt and decrypt your messages as you access them. However, the absence of an alarm feature is a blow. If they can get past the title and the missing alarm, security-minded users seeking a notes app will find something to like with this freeware.Publisher's description
From Nullsoft :SafeSex allows you to have some notes that are easily accessible, but relatively secure. It sits on your screen, waiting for a click, and on a click it will activate and give you access to your notes. That is, of course, if you enter the passphrase that your notes are encrypted with. For ease, the passphrase will be cached in memory, and expire after a user-configurable time. The notes themselves are stored in RTF, and encrypted when stored to disk. When the SafeSex window is not open, the notes are not stored in memory. They are encrypted and decrypted on demand.
The encryption used is Blowfish, using the 20 byte SHA-1 of the passphrase as the key. It uses Blowfish in CBC mode, with the initialization vector being incremented every time. SafeSex keeps running in the background, using very little memory and resources, and automatically keeps itself running across reboots (i.e. if you reboot with SafeSex running, it will come back on startup).

"Nice product - sketchy name can cause problems"
Pros: The program is a great way to keep private reminders, thoughts, poetry you don't want read yet, etc. It keeps them password protected as promised.
Cons: If another user of your computer clicks on the programs icon they see a window that reads, "Safesex Passphrase - Enter Passphrase" This is something that would leave a spouse or child wondering what is hidden beyond the Safesex passphrase.
Great program - inappropriate and immature name.

Version: SafeSex 0.35
Pros: It's a nice tool if you need to make secure notes to your self.
Cons: It's been around in it's current form since 2002 and to my knowledge has been updated since. Download.com is a little late with this one.

Version: SafeSex 0.35
Pros: Just another sticky notes program. The only good thing about it is it's file size. But then, such programs don't really occupy much space anyway, do they?
Cons: "Fuzzy Duck Note Tab" is by far the most complete, compact alternative "notes posting" program available online today.

"What were they thinking? The Name?"
Pros: Great, great software. Works just like it should
Cons: The only thing that really irks me about this software is the name. I am not sure if they were using this to try to sell the software, but I believe it backfired on them. I uninstalled this software only because of the name and will try other's like it. I don't want my girlfriend seeing this on my comp.
