Use Safari Prairiefire for weeding in Safari's bookmarks jungle. Isn't it time to retire all those bookmarks that expired months ago? Too many bookmarks just make things sluggish. Going through bookmarks is a process so tedious that it is rarely done. This application displays Safari's bookmarks in an iTunes-like list, and determines if they point to dead and missing links. View bookmarks by name, URL, but also on type of problem with the link. Bookmarks can be deleted or corrected without going to Safari. The user has full control over the process, can decide to scan through all bookmarks or a selection, and can also test individual bookmarks directly by launching them from the application. Bookmarks can be renamed and edited. Support for proxies, RSS feeds, and runs on Panther, Tiger, and Leopard.
What's new in this version: Version 1.9.3 of Safari Prairiefire removes the need to authenticate with a password in order to save changes to the bookmarks. It also include a few minor bug fixes.

"Crashes every time when deleting duplicate bookmarks"

Cons
I bout the software yesterday. It crashes every time when trying to delete bookmarks. I have tried at least 20 time and every time, it crashes with the error message: "An exception of class NilObjectExtension was not handled. The application must shut down. I am running Mountain Lion and the latest versions of both Safari and Safari Prairiefire on the latest MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM.

not useful as implemented. The application times out on many bookmarks that are still current (I got to them without difficulty in the browser). This application also gives false reports that many other bookmarks are no longer valid when they are up to date.
Using this application is worse than a waste of time because it gives many, many incorrect results which may cause you to do things you would not/should not do if given correct information.
P.S. It is very slow as well. -

Version 0.9.8 (just got it through the auto updater): This is a fantastic utility! Easy to use and does the job. I mailed the developer and asked if they could allow bookmarks to be edited directly in the list. In this version it works! Thank you for listening! This is by far the best utility for Safari. I had been looking for an app like this since beginning of the web. I bought this one and had no problems. I recommend this to everybody that uses Safari. one comment to the makers: can you make it possible to turn off the automatic backups before replacing the bookmarks file? I prefer to speed up the process and don't mind doing a backup manually...
All in all a GREAT app and thanks for the great support. -

This application, once with version 0.9.6 and now with 0.9.7, and each time after doing a complete search and analysis (yes I registered it JUST so I could even demo it - wouldn't work otherwise) it completely deleted all of my bookmarks.
Now I'm just pissed at the application, and won't bother even downloading new versions - I've had it. I've been using mac apps since 1985, and this is the among one of the true pits. -

First off, this app is too eager to get itself registered. Useally this ivokes frustration to someone with decent programming skills and cracks it just out of frustration. and if s/he has a bad s/he'll submit the crack to the infamous Surfers Serials...
The idea is nice, but it has issues:
-Double clicking an item should launch the URL to the default browser
-Amazon.com encryted pages show up as protocol errors
-it should do Mozilla and Opera bookmarks too
-It phones home. i absolutely hate this.

I've been looking for an app that has this functionality for a long time but two minutes of playing with this one reveals thats its not ready for prime time. To start, as mentioned already, URL's pointing to login/passwd pages are reported as bad. Second many sites get reported as timeouts, even when I up the timeout to 10 sec. The UI also seems a little rough, throughout. Finally, its ridiculous to disable full functionality and have such frequent reminders to pay for an app that only costs $6. -

Thanks for an excellent app! Recommended! This program is solid, intuitive and must be one of the best ideas I have seen. I wish Apple could build this into Safari. Don't know what happened to Foto505 since you are prompted about 5 times to allow the bookie file to be archived. I bought the first version when it came out and it has worked flawlessly on my two Macs. A suggestion would be to support Explorer too but I suppose my wife is the only onestill using the MS browser. Thank you and keep up the good work! -

It does the job, has a great interface, is one of the most intuitive freeware apps I have seen recently, and costs only 6$. My only recommendation for the future for BaloobaSoftware is to make more of such apps, and not port these to Windows, so that we Mac users have more obvious advantage. -
