Developer’s Description

Record your vinyl records, cassette tapes and Internet radio to MP3 and other digital formats.

RIP Vinyl is a direct to disk recorder that allows you to record from any audio source on your sound card, and produce WAV or MP3 files, which can then be burned onto a CD-R or iPod for your own personal use while away from home. The software automatically detects tracks using parameters you configure, and can record a 78 on a 45 RPM player. In addition, it automatically discards tracks shorter than a threshold.

It includes features to allow you to schedule recordings, and break tracks after a fixed time, to aid transfer of books on tape. The software compresses to disk while recording. Compression is done via Microsoft's Audio Compression Manager and can use any ACM codec that is licensed for encoding. The software includes a peak VU meter. When you install, we automatically enable the Media Player 10 MP3 encoder for use with RIP Vinyl if present. In addition, the program now supports USB turntables and tape decks, allowing you to listen on your PC speakers or headphones while recording from these devices.
