Version: Quick Media Converter HD 4.0
Pros: Actually free to use as advertised. All I needed was to pull the audio off a cell phone video. Quick Media Converter converted the ENTIRE file (not just half or 1 minute) very quickly. It also has many file options and formats.
Cons: It took a few attempts to get it to run. It is not the most intuitive program I have used. However, I just started clicking buttons instead of watching the tutorial videos or reading the help forum.
Summary: I tried 4 allegedly free media converter programs before I found this one. They all would convert a portion of the files I needed, but none would do an entire file until I made a purchase. I have only run cell phone videos through the program (.3g2 ... read more >>

"Nonfunctional. Same error every time."
Pros: Pretty interface.
Cons: Every time the convert function was pressed, a popup demanded that a folder be selected for the output files. Once that was done, it made no difference: a popup every time a conversion was attempted. Restarting the program made no difference.
Summary: Doesn't work.

Pros: If it doesn't work for for you, I think it'd be worthwhile to keep trying! I was just about to give upon CNET after reading the reviews for all the (NOT)free bait and switch stuff (SHAME ON CNET), when I found this. It should be a Firefox Add-on!
Cons: I've converted only one file; worked fine the first time.
Summary: No problem installing and running, but I have converted only one file. Worked fine the first time.
