While this application offers easy access to special characters and symbols, its numerous settings and options can be a bit daunting at first. Quick Key is found in the system tray and the right-click menu offers access to character sets, a toolbar, and settings. Characters and symbols can be easily inserted a number of ways, including drag and drop. The program's toolbar allows you to easily set the font or font size of the character before insertion, but the numerous options found in the toolbar's File menu were initially overwhelming. There are more settings found in Options for mouse actions, delaying time before inserting characters, and managing the programs you want Quick Key to work with. Tips and a well-written Help file will clear up most, if not all, questions, and ultimately the program proved easy to use. This freeware app may confuse the novice user, but other users who frequently use special characters and symbols will appreciate this feature-rich program.Publisher's description
From Nathanael Jones :Allows you to enter non-standard characters easily into documents and applications. The interface is streamlined for rapid entry, and supports single-click character transfer. Quick Key is ideal for mathematics, foreign languages, and font development. Quick Key improves on the standard Character Map design by providing more power over the character transfer process, and a more flexible interface for simultaneous use with other applications.
The application operates in the notification area of your taskbar to keep your screen clean and uncluttered. Quick Key is essential for learning about Unicode, glyphs, and fonts in general. Works better out of the box, although customization is still useful. Mouse setting defaults and keystroke emulation settings have been changed, so that most people can use the program without any prior training. Version 5.2.2.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
