So, another Internet Explorer add-on toolbar...but wait! Quero Toolbar is different: It's actually worth using. For starters, it's not like those spyware "toolbars" that continue to plague unprotected PCs and careless users. Quero Toolbar is actually designed to block pop-ups, flash animations, and other ad-related annoyances that can spoil your browsing. It also integrates a search-as-you-type function, easily selectable search engines and international profiles, a highlighter, easy zoom and resize, security options, and much more.
Quero Toolbar installs seamlessly with all versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and above. The Quero button on the navigation toolbar opens the menu, which gives you access to all of Quero's primary functions as well as its Options, which are considerable for a free toolbar. The Options dialog has tabs for Settings, Search Profiles, Ad Blocker, Security, Appearance, and Advanced. You can configure Quero to warn you about suspicious characters, something your mother would probably approve of, even if it's things like nonstandard ASCII characters and missing glyphs and not the wrong sort of friends. The Ad Blocker lets you choose just what kind of ads to block; for instance, you can allow flash animations and banner ads but block DVI and IFRAME ads and ad scripts from Web sites like Google. You disable the Ad Blocker for allowed sites, too.
Quero Toolbar is easy to use, but it gives you a lot of choices, and it's small and out of the way when you don't want it. And, best of all, it's free.
Publisher's description
From Viktor Krammer :Quero Toolbar is a navigation bar replacement with an integrated ad blocker for Internet Explorer. Quero evolves the user interface of IE by combining both the benefits of IE6 (flexible toolbar layout) and IE7 (integrated search) into one address bar-like toolbar. Additionally, Quero supersedes the standard find dialog by searching for text as you type and has a built-in content filter to suppress unwanted Flash, banner, layer, or pop-up ads.
Quero is the first toolbar which supports Aero Glass under Windows Vista.
What's new in this version:
- IE8 support added.
- You can now disable the ad blocker temporarily for the current domain (shortcut Ctrl+Ins or click on the recycle bin icon in the Quero box).
- New option added: "Show Search Terms While Searching".
- New OpenSearch template parameters added, which can be used to build queries depending on the current URL: Quero:url, Quero:hostname and Quero:domainname.
- New keyboard shortcut added: Ctrl+L toggles between search and navigation mode <... see all new features

Version: Quero Toolbar 4.5.0.1
"needs adblock ONLY option -- no toolbar desired"
Pros: * appears to be free
* works in IE8
* blocks ads in IE8
* does not require dot NET -- unlike adblock IECons: * not clear WHY/HOW it is free
* developer agenda not clearSummary: I would rate it higher if it had an adblock only install for IE8. I am not a fan of toolbars. I don't like search hijacking.
