QI Macros SPC Software for Excel allows you to analyze data in a variety of formats, including histograms with Cp and Cpk, Pareto charts, scatter plots, box whisker plots, and all variable and attribute control charts.
Since this program integrates itself into Microsoft Excel's interface, you should have no problem using it. It appears as an extra tab at the top of your Excel window. The tab itself is broken into seven categories: Statistical Tools, Fill-in-the-Blanks Templates, Data Transformation, Capability Charts, Control Charts, Improvement Charts, and Other Charts. Each transforms your inputted data for the best analysis. We entered random numbers into the cells of our spreadsheet and tested the macros by clicking through the options. The g chart function quickly placed our random numbers into a chart, complete with built-in macros and a graph that changed with our data. We then took those same numbers and clicked the Box Whisker chart option. Again, the program placed our numbers into an attractive chart that graphed our entered data. The program doesn't include a Help feature through its interface, but it does offer assistance through its Web site, should you need it. Despite not being too familiar with some of the chart concepts, we were still able to quickly jump in and see our data come to life.
QI Macros SPC Software for Excel installs and uninstalls cleanly. We highly recommend this handy macros program for anyone in need of a way to display and analyze data.
The QI Macros SPC Software for Excel draws pareto charts, control charts, histograms, box and whisker plots, scatter plots and more. Just select your data and then select the chart you want from the QI Macros menu.
The QI Macros contains over 90 fill in the blank templates including QFD, Gage R&R, DOE, PPAP, FMEA and templates for control charts, histograms, pareto and other charts. This Excel add-in is easy to use and delivers immediate results using Grab-It-And-Go Simplicity and mistake-proof selection of data. Your data can be connected or separated or in rows or columns. The QI Macros will clean up non-numeric data, fix any misalignments and use your data as you selected it.
The QI Macros wizards contain functionality not included in any other six sigma or statistical process control software. The Chart Wizard selects and runs possible charts for you. The Control Chart Wizard selects and runs the right control chart for you. The Control Chart Dashboards simplify monthly reporting. The PivotTable Wizard simplifies analyzing complex transaction files. The Statistical Wizard selects and runs the right statistical tests and even interprets the results for you (e.g. reject or accept the null hypothesis, mean / variances are the same or different). Mistake-proof your six sigma data analysis and statistical calculations using this powerful tool.

"QI Macros is easy to use"
Version: QI Macros for Excel 3013.06
The product is easy to install and to use; it's a good alternative to Minitab and uses Excel and your own data. You can redo the charts as many times as needed. There are Control Charts, Histograms and other Capability Analysis tools, Anova and other statistical tools. It has a couple of wizards.
And, the website has tons of information (do a search for whatever chart or information you need) and a support page.
The product may contain more charts/templates than you need, but you can pick-and-choose which ones you need and which you don't.
There is a free trial if you go to the website.
"Lots of tools, much too complicated and no support"
Version: QI Macros for Excel 3013.06
There are pros to this excel add-in. There are tons of statistical tools that can you can use on your data sets and it makes things like correlation analysis a breeze.
Where to begin...
1 - First off there is no instruction manual. They include a 2 page description of some of the tools on their website but that is about it. With over 50 tools in the package it is very difficult to find which one you need. Additionally, if you have any concerns about how the calculations need to be set up or are taking place there is no way to check (add-in encrypted in VBA).
2 - No support: Since there was no manual I had to call QIMacros multiple times to ask a simple question (Are blank cells counted as zeros or not included), and was told "THEY AREN'T SURE BECAUSE THEY AREN'T STATISTICIANS", WHAT??
3 - Not a great output: once you do figure out how to use the product (without any help from QIMacros), the organization and output of the macro is rough at best.
Overpriced, under explained, no support because staff doesn't understand product.
Overall QIMacros is a nice stat package for excel but at $229 it is overpriced due to the fact that you won't be able to use 90% of the tools in a business setting (without knowing any of the underlying calculation/assumptions) and while there is tech support the staff do not have enough technical training or knowledge to help.
Also, most people will probably only use QIMacros for one or two of the tools (I usually just use the correlation function) and the macros they have programmed are nothing special. My advice is, unless you are a statistician and plans on investing lots of time on the phone trying to understand the product, make you own table or spreadsheet. It'll save you $230, allow you to be confident in your calculations, allow you to have a cleaner output, and you may learn useful information for the future.
