"BEWARE OF THIS SOFTWARE"

Pros
Bought this software and used it a few times and it initially worked.
Cons
After using only a few times, every time I attempted to use the software it said I needed to upgrade and it will cost more $$$. The version I had purchased stopped executing. Downloaded this later version to see if it worked using the USER NAME and registration code provided by PRISM when I originally purchased the software. Of course, it did not work.
Summary
My impression of this software is that it is a come-on where they hope you will purchase the software, use it a few times, and then they can sell you an upgrade. The original software I purchased should have never stopped working but then how could they ever sell all those upgrades? I would never buy software from PRISM again!!

"Works pretty nice, but missing important features"

Pros
Easy to install, works reasonably fast, good video quality and lots of settings are available to convert. You can even convert dvd files directly from a harddrive directory without the need of the actual DVD movie disc.
Cons
Can't select the language output or desired subtitles!
Summary
Nice software, but missing important language en subtitle features.
I wanted to convert a multi language DVD movie of which the output was in Spanish. On the DVD you can set the language to the original English with multiple subtitles. When converting it just converts the Spanish version, without to option to convert it in English - with or without subtitles.
Personally I think any converting software should have the option to convert to any available language which is on the disc and with the desired subtitles. -

IT does what it's supposed to do, I've tried several other converters and they all freeze or conver into ahuge file. This doesn't freeze and shrinks the video's very well.

I was thrilled when I found this product! It was exactly what I needed for video conversion software. And I owned Switch, a similar audio conversion product from NCH that has performed admirably. So I decided to buy it. BIG MISTAKE!
Cons
The product doesn't work. It makes NO difference what format is entered for conversion or asked for in return. The software crashes ("quit unexpectedly"). As of today, on NCH's forum, 7 of us Mac users are reporting this problem (since January).
Summary
I had an all-round dismal experience with the Prism product and NCH software.
When you buy from NCH, at the END of the purchase screens they force you to confirm that you've tried the product out. I guess I missed the meaning of that "red flag" (read: it doesn't work, dummy. If you buy it, we're keeping your money because YOU WERE WARNED and had a chance to see if was vaporware). I teach Marketing at a college in the midwest. I am using these screen to show how NOT to give your customers a sense of security!
To make matters worse, I bought using Paypal. I was surprised to find the final invoice was ALMOST TWICE what the "bundling" package I purchased was to cost. At THAT screen I learned that, in using Paypal, NCH would not honor my bundled pricing. If there was a warning on an earlier screen about such a "rip off", I would have heeded it. So, I'm now a "dummy" a second time and had to pay for it... literally. So, add to all this the fact that the product doesn't work and you can see why I'm miffed.
If NCH turns their act around and takes care of the product first (makes it work as advertised) and then cleans up their act and becomes less buyer-abusive (remove the buyer traps and rip-offs from their purchase screens), I would be THRILLED to come back and report same! If they give me the discounts I deserved before the Paypal debacle, that would be nice too. But for right now, I'd like my $30 worth of software (that I paid $50 for) to FREAKIN' WORK!!
