We have to admit we were skeptical. We've messed around in Photoshop before and had no idea what we were doing. Portrait Professional promised to be easy, but how easy could it be? Surely it would require some kind of photo-editing skills, right? Wrong.
We are not exaggerating when we say that anyone could use this program. It doesn't really get any easier than this. Open a photo, and the program guides you though the process of adjusting a series of outlines over the subject's facial features. Even this doesn't have to be exact. Once you've done this, the program works its magic, and you're done. For users who want to do a little more fine-tuning, there are separate controls for adjusting facial dimensions and skin characteristics. The main drawback to this program is that users run the risk of making photos look a little too good, which is to say, unrealistic. Portrait subjects will end up with magazine-perfect complexions, which may not be what you're going for. Users will also need to be careful about adjusting things like mouth shape and jaw line; the results may be more attractive than the original, but may end up looking nothing like the subject. Still, this program provides an incredibly easy and efficient way to edit portraits, and overall we were quite impressed with the results. The built-in Help guide is not particularly detailed, but it's adequate.
Portrait Professional is free to try, but the trial version leaves a watermark on images. The program installs desktop icons without asking but uninstalls cleanly. We recommend this program to all users.

Number one, it does a fantastic job of changing a photo just a tiny bit or going all out making someone's appearance just exactly like you want it. It is very easy to use and takes little time and effort. It was intuitive to me to figure out with hardly any need for formal instruction and is just plain fun to use.

I have not had any reason to complain about a thing.

This program really rocks! I would recommend it to anyone because of it's ease and wonderful results. I have had no problem with bazaar looking results as I read in one review and think possibly the points that you adjust at the very beginning of editing may not have been put exactly where they belong. My photos are never distorted, just fresher and clean. It is also fun to just play around with the many options that are available. I really do love this photo editing program. "Impressive (but slightly bizarre) results"

This software is EASY to use. It makes skin appear flawless and photos magazine ready. It's an excellent value for the cost.
Cons
I processed a photo of myself that my husband took, and the result was bizarre. The person in the photo looked like a really, really good impersonation of me, but it definitely wasn't me. (Perhaps it was my alien impersonator?) The eyes were defined and striking, but set oddly farther apart than in actuality. I processed portraits of three other women, and it did the same thing to two of them. If the eyes weren't set so far apart so often, I would have definitely given it five stars.

Pros
Incredibly easy to use for the power it has. It turns a woman's portrait shot into a magazine cover quality shot with very little effort, but for those that need them, there are lots of specific tweaks you can do beyond the basic effect. Good for men's shots, too. Available for both PC and Mac and works the same on each. I use it on an HP Win 7 64-bit desktop and on a MacBook Air. I have been using since version 8 (now on v10) and would not be without it.
Cons
Some have complained about support. I can't comment since I have never needed any with this software. I have no complaints. Works better than I expected.

Purchased this program for my Autistic son, He's able to use it on family portraits and almost has us looking like celebrities with ease.

Works very well and couldn't be easier to use.
Cons
The support is amongst the worst I have experienced. I expected to have automatic upgrades from 10.8 to 10.9 in accordance with the license. My support ticket received one response - "not able to upgrade"!!!! No further correspondence from them. Don't hold your breath for the so called free upgrade to Version 11 when it comes out.

If unhappy with saved result, unless saved a fullsize project file, the whole work process incl. marking eyes, mouth, nose etc. will have to be redone. Therefore, the program is best used as plug-in w Photoshop working on image copy in layer to then take advantage of blending modes for layers.
