Though you're only allowed to view a limited number of plants and flowers, Plantasia Home Edition is one of the more reliable and easy-to-use database applications that we've seen. The program sports a well-designed, multipaneled interface that is simple to operate. Plant categories are organized into a simple tree-view list on the left side of the screen. The right side houses tons of information such as species, growth habits, climate and nutrition, plant cycle, suitable soil conditions, and much more.

The program comes preloaded with plant information, and you can add your own or edit existing information. We like the dialog boxes that contain entries to fill entry fields (flower shape, fragrance, fruit type, and so on). Moreover, you can upload images, import/export plant fact sheets in DOC format, and build projects quickly by dragging and dropping plant entries into your project folder. Print tools are also available.

Our only complaint is that users can only view the first 10 plants of each category during the trial; nonetheless, you'll still find loads of information. With that said, Plantasia Home Edition makes it easy for any gardening enthusiast to access and manage information on plants and flowers.

Publisher's description

From GlobalCAD :

Plantasia Home Edition is an interactive encyclopedia of garden plants and flowers. The software provides a wealth of information for home, work or school. Get instant access to information including growth and cultivation tips, plant photographs, and illustrations. With one search, find authoritative, reliable content that brings the exciting world of plants alive for the whole family. Plantasia lets you easily drag-and-drop selected plants and related notes into your own personal project folders. Organizing plants in this way lets you quickly create plant lists for a particular site, soil or purpose (for example, rockeries and pond features). Share plants with others--when you create new plant records in Plantasia, all of the information including photos and illustrations is available in vPlant format. This means it can be exchanged with friends or colleagues at the click of a button.
