CNET Editors' review
Never again will you have to take screenshots or pull up a color wheel to match color hues. Pixie lets you get the color values for any object, including for your desktop or for any window of any application. Once the program is installed and running, all you have to do is point the mouse cursor to a solid or text color. Pixie then displays the color values in a tiny window in several popular formats, including HTML color code, RGB and CMYK codes, HSV, and hex. Various hot keys make your work with Pixie more comfortable; for example, Ctrl Alt C copies the HTML value of a current color to your Windows clipboard. We loved the fact that, for complex images, you can magnify a 32-by-32 pixel area to choose a color from exactly the pixel you want. The program also displays the selected pixel and its corresponding X and Y coordinates. Pixie is a cool little program that makes it easy for users of all levels to instantly reproduce colors in their favorite programs or on their Web pages.Publisher's Description
From Nattyware:
Pixie is an easy-to-use, fast, and tiny utility designed especially to fit the needs of Webmasters and designers. It's a color picker that includes a mouse tracker. Run it and simply point to a color, and it will tell you the hex, RGB, HTML, CMYK, and HSV values of that color. You can then use these values to reproduce the selected color in your favorite programs. Pixie also will show the current 'xy' position of your mouse pointer. It's the only tool you'll need for working with colors.

"I'd be lost without it."
Version: Pixie 4.1
Pros
I've been using Pixie for about five years from XP through Vista to 7. It's one of the first apps to go on a new machine. As tiny as it is, it keeps getting better with new features.
Cons
None that I've found. It's clumsy with Microsoft products because they don't accept HTML code input. Microsoft color picker is inherently awkward.
Summary
Precise, pixel-perfect color matching in HEX, HTML, RGB, CMYK AND HSV. I especially appreciate the hotkey copy function for HTML values.
I love that it operates independently, across other apps, so I can grab a color from a webpage and pop it into Photoshop or a web editor.
The new color mixer and magnifier options rock. -

Very necessary and very useful. But tends to disappear just when you need it.

"Loved it when I used XP"
Version: Pixie 4.1
Pros
Since XP is almost gone, though fondly remembered, it is almost useless to list the pros of this nifty little program. Uses almost no resources, works flawlessly.
Cons
It does work with Vista or Windows 7.
Summary
Oh, how I wish they'd update this to work with Vista/Windows 7. I miss it, and haven't found anything I like as much.
Now that Pixie is fully compatible with Windows 7, I really love it!
