Payroll Mate 2009 provides tools for managing your business's payroll. With its simple operation and great features, it's is a great option for users in charge of a small business' finances.
Even if you've never handled any company's payroll, large or small, Payroll Mate is easy to get started with. We were able to slip right into the interface and control everything with ease. The program's Wizard holds your hand every step of the way as it walks you through the setup and data entry stages. The Wizard is most helpful when entering a new employee's information into the database. You can quickly handle all relevant information, such as address, salary, deductions, marital status, and more. Once you've completed this, Payroll Mate automatically tallies all taxes and withholdings, which saves you time and reduces errors by doing the math for you. Payroll Mate automatically translates this financial information into a paycheck that looks exactly like what you'd expect to see in a traditional paycheck. From adding new employees to cutting them a check, the whole process took less than 5 minutes, which was amazing. Payroll Mate also lets you run reports and make detailed evaluations of payroll, employees, budgets, and more. We've tested several payroll programs, and Payroll Mate ranks right up there as one of the best.

Pros: I used this software as a replacement for quickpayroll which got discontinued..I can't say payroll mate had everything I needed, but I was able to customize it to fit my requirements.was able to create my own tax and deduction types which is great.
Cons: export to quicken is not available in the 2009 version, it's available in the 2010 one. BTW I had to go to payroll mate website to download a demo for 2010, not sure when this will be available on download.com.
Summary: would recommend especially if you are a quickpayroll user and looking for a replacement

Pros: I use MSOA (Microsoft Accounting) and I had to find a payroll software last month after payroll for office accounting from ADP got discontinued. For $99, Payroll Mate was perfect for our small company.
Cons: I would like to see the ability to interface with EFTPS added to the software.

"Very, very friendly and easy to use.."
Pros: Easy and affordable.I was able to setup my company, add my employees and print checks in less than an hour. I paid $99 and it covers my whole year.
Cons: I wish the software had employee time tracking built in. The tech support guy said they will consider it.
Summary: If you are just like me and don't want to be ripped off by payroll service companies, then use this software.

"DEMO, not try before you buy"
Pros: The user interface isn't horrible.
Cons: It's a DEMO, so it's really useless if you don't buy it. After painstakingly putting in all my info, I discovered it would not actually print checks or paystubs. Also does not calculate local taxes. Minimal customization ability.
Summary: Avoid wasting your time like the 6 hours I wasted using this piece of junk. I hate Intuit and all their bloatware products but they seem to be the only viable option if you actually want to do work. Was very disappointed as I have been a big propo... read more >>
