This program can guard your private folders from nosy onlookers, although it requires repetitive setups to operate. Rather than encrypting or hiding your sensitive folders from view, Password Protect locks down each one behind a user-defined password. We especially like that you can assign different passwords to each folder so you can offer access to authorized persons for specific folders when necessary while continuing to protect others. The trial allows you to secure three folders, and they mustn't exceed 50MB. On the upside, it extends support for locking USB and external drives. Our biggest gripe with this protection tool is that once you unlock and enter your folder, you have to go through the process of resetting the password protection upon exiting. Though some users will prefer a protective software that can maintain its guard automatically, Password Protect does provide a sufficient level of security while it's in place.Publisher's description

Version: Password Protect 3.2.3
"Completely unusable for large folders"
Pros: It's wonderful for folks that have half an hour to spare EVERY time they lock or unlock a large folder.
Cons: Beware - the trial version is limited to locking folders less than 50MB. They have put this limitation in place to make sure you don't see the insanely slow performance for larger folders. I foolishly plonked down my $40 and now have a piece of software that is completely unusable.
Used it on a 1GB folder
3.2GHz machine, 2GB RAM, 160 GB 7200 rpm hard drive

Version: Password Protect 3.2.3
Pros: Unable to test
Cons: Trial is time limited, fair enough, but it was also size limited, WHY? My folder I needed to encrypt was over 50mb so it would not let me.

Version: Password Protect 3.2.3
Pros: it is not spyware! and does the job but...
Cons: it locks folders in the usb but not the whole usb! it is not autoplay. it takes sometime to lock and unlock big folders. and it can be frustrating sometimes. and the worst part is that it needs twice the capacity of the folder and for big folders?!!
