Publisher's Description
From Mortal Universe:
POP Peeper is an e-mail notifier that supports POP3, IMAP (AOL, AIM, FastMail, mail.com, etc.), SMTP, Hotmail, MSN, Yahoo, GMail, MyWay, Excite, Lycos, RediffMail, Juno, NetZero, and iWon. Other features include portability, password protection, an address book, viewing in HTML (or rich/plain text for security), open/send attachments, separate polling intervals for each account. Many options are available to indicate new mail has arrived such as sound alerts (configurable for each account), flashing scroll lock, trayicon balloon, skinnable pop-up notifier, and a customized screensaver. An SSL plugin is available for download which allows you to retrieve e-mail from POP3 and IMAP servers that accept secure connections such as Gmail. With IMAP's Idle command, you will be notified of new e-mail as soon as it arrives in your inbox.
What's new in this version: Version 3.8.1 brings back support for Lycos.

"Fantastic! A must have for the technically savvy"
Version: POP Peeper 3.8.1
Pros
A great program for sifting through all of your emails from all of your email accounts and then deleting what you don't want before it gets to your in box.
This program isn't for people who don't follow directions before they set this up. Some people hate it because they didn't set the program up correctly. If you are computer savvy and want to spend some time setting it up, it will become one of your most useful utilities.Cons
The program isn't hard to set up but you have to make sure that you have things set up properly. It will take some time to learn the program well and have it set up exactly the way you want.
Summary
All in all this is a terrific program that I just can't live without. I have accumulated 8 email addresses over the years that are used for different purposes. For instance I have one for family, one for business, one for friends etc. I use this to pre-read all my emails and then I save the important email in their respective email programs or online email folders. If you have many email addresses and need a way to sort through all of your emails then this is the only way to go. If you only have 2 or 3 accounts that aren't really busy you might want to use another email service that will do this for you but for me this is just what the doctor ordered. And the great thing about it is the little mailbox icon in the toolbar that notifies you when you have new mail. The icon looks like a little rural mailbox and the flag moves up and down when you have new mail to notify you of this. Terrific!
P.S. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because everything has room for improvement including this program but it doesn't mean that this isn't a great program. -
"Very Convenient"
Version: POP Peeper 3.8.1
Pros
- It works better than I thought it would.
- Much better!
- I set up 15 of my (non-POP) email accounts from both common and uncommon email providers, and now have ALL of them working perfectly.
- Some of my email accounts required some trial and error configuration of the "Server Type" on the drop-down menu to set up properly, but they ALL eventually worked just fine.Cons
- This is NOT a "con", but rarely it couldn't access a cetain email account. (example: new Gmail) However, after logging in manually on their webmail page, I found it was because there was a preliminary page notifying users of an upcoming change in the webmail layout. After clicking to acknowlege or dismiss that notification, it took me to my webmail page. After that, POP Peeper had no further difficulty in accessing that email account.
- I've been using POP Peeper for about a month now and have no other "cons" to report.Summary
Pop Peeper program is a "keeper", and saves me a lot of time.

"Works Great"

"Indispensable!"
Version: POP Peeper 3.8.1
Pros
Does what it should. Never let me down.
Cons
It works, it's free, what could be con?!

"I don't see any difference"
Version: POP Peeper 3.8.1
Pros
they have good customer service.. you can expect a response on the boards within a day or two.
Cons
I see no difference between this peep and any other peep in the past. I'd like to open an email and reply without having to go into the original email program but I'm not sure peep will ever offer that luxury. I hate it when an email service goes down and the response you get from peep is that "no, they aren't down." So like it's all in my head.
Summary
Stick with the old or load the new, there's no difference.
where's my review?

"I depend on POP Peeper and it hasn't failed me yet."
Version: POP Peeper 3.8.1
Pros
Fast! Between business, personal, and family I have 15 e-mail accounts on POP Peeper. They all open & retrieve my messages very quickly. Sure beats opening each one up individually. The best part is that any messages I delete on POP Peeper also deletes the originals.
Cons
Many messages open in text only and lose graphics, but the convenience of POP Peeper makes up for some shortcomings.

"I wouldn't be without POP Peeper"
Version: POP Peeper 3.8.1
Pros
It's very convenient and saves a lot of time.
Cons
I can't think of any cons.
Summary
I wouldn't be without POP Peeper. I have several email accounts for different purposes, some on the web and some in Outlook Express on my computer. With POP Peeper I can easily see, at any time, what mail has come in to the different accounts. I set mine to check mail every ten minutes, but you can send for mail whenever you want. When I go away from the computer I leave the POP Peeper window at the top so that I can see immediately when I get back what mail has come in. When I'm at the computer I minimize it to the taskbar and it sends up a small notice when new mail arrives; then I can open POP Peeper (very easily; it's right there on the taskbar) to see more details and to access the messages. I can open the mail right on POP Peeper itself, though I never have been able to figure out how to configure things so that I can send mail out from the Peeper...I've tried and haven't gotten it right yet, though it can supposedly be done. It's not that important to me, so I haven't pursued it.
