• PDFLite is FULL of MALWARE and VIRUSES

  None. Apparently a ripoff of SumatraPDF, a good light-weight reader, except full of VIRUSES.

  - FULL OF BROWSER HIJACKERS, MALWARE AND VIRUSES! - Basically criminal fraud.

  Summary

  HORRIBLE! I wanted a quick lite pdf reader, so I just downloaded the first thing "PDFLite." I should have known never to trust a site that obviously abusing google rankings. The download link said "May try to install yahoo search." That was an understatement! It installs Yahoo WITHOUT ASKING, plus 5+ different VIRUSES and HIJACKERS. I'm still trying to clean up. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!

  Pros

  lightweight, not a system hog like others. prints to pdf.

  Cons

  Installs malware: myBackup PC, Crimewatch and Stormwatcher. Crimewatch is a browser hijacker and will display ads all over whatever browser you use. When you try to close the browser window, you are redirected to a page with an alarm and message saying that your computer is infected and to call a number to remove the infection. It took me about 45 minutes to scan with malwarebytes and uninstall all components.

  Summary

  This used to be a plain old pdf reader/writer but since sometime last year, someone decided to add a bunch of crapware. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

  None, works as it should.

  Summary

  When you download or upgrade this program. It is common sense to read what you are downloading. Just deselect the optional software download boxes and you will not receive unwanted software. This program is fast and agile and will open up all your files and remember where you left off, awesome.

  Installed MyPCBackup on my computer days after I installed PdfLite itself. Go to www.pdflite.com and read the fine print. They tell you they will install other stuff.

  Installed MyPCBackup on my computer without asking me anything, days after I installed PdfLite. Will install all other types of crapware too. These people are fortunate I can't get my hands on them.

  Just don't do it. Google uninstall PDFLite and see all the complaints that people cannot uninstall the program

• This Is Not a Ripoff

  Pros

  Lightweight. Opens rapidly in a browser Window. Uncomplicated GUI with all the basic viewing functions - zoom, rotate, full screen, find, etc. The nasty chrome yellow background of Sumatra is absent, otherwise the GUI is almost exactly the same as that of Sumatra.

  Cons

  The same as those of Sumatra. No bookmarks. No highlighting. No annotations. No text copy. No text mode. No tabs. When I attempted to download version 0.92 NOD32 flagged the download as Win32/InstallCore.CH application. According to FSecure "InstallCore is an advertising module that displays targeted advertising material. User information may be collected from the system in order to select the appropriate advertisements for display." and "Users may or may not elect to install the component, at their own discretion".

  Summary

  The Wikipedia article for Sumatra states that Sumatra is an open source program which means that Amnis Technology do have a right to distribute a derivative of Sumatra and they do acknowledge their use of Sumatra code. However, I am not sure that the GNU General Public License permits them to distribute their Sumatra derivative using their own installer with bundled software. The only bundled software that came with version 0.9 was a Word to PDF converter. Sumatra/PDFLite are ideal for intergration with a browser so that pdfs can open rapidly in a browser window, but I recommend that you also have a another pdf viewer with more comprehensive features on your system

  I wanted to convert a mobi file to a pdf so I could upload it to createspace. I downloaded pdflite - top free software in my google search. I pulled up the file and clicked on convert. It did not convert well and the pdf was not useable. When I went into my files to open up a file I found ALL my pdf/mobi/epub files had been highjacked by the software and had a pdf blank on it they all now show as PDFlite chm under type. IS there anyway I can undo this? I uninstalled the software - ran all my security software and restarted my computer. But when I went to down load a mobi file from my cloud acct it again redid the file to a pdlitechm. DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE!!! It also tries to get you to not notice that it wants to download a 1/2 doz. other annoying softwares.

  Summary

  What ever you do - DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE! I have spent hours upon hours trying to fix my computer.

  Pros

  It's as good as SumatraPDF, but only because it's SumatraPDF ripoff with a different name.

  Cons

  I'm the author of SumatraPDF. PDFLite simply took SumatraPDF code, renamed it and bundled additional crappy software with it.
