We had no problems except the following the summary.

Summary

I purchased a new computer, and was told by a friend about PCmover.
I purchased a pcmover professional from Fry's Electronics in Las Vegas and five hours later, everything from my old computer was moved over to my new computer. The only problems were: 1: I had to reload my Quicken 10 program. 2. I had to call microsoft and
obtain their permission and assistance in moving microsoft "streets and trips" 2010...to the new computer which they did at no cost, and 3. I had to contact NERO and obtain their permission as well as pay an upgrade charge of 37.95 to getNero to work.( I had originally purchased Nero 6 a couple years ago and the upgrade was to Nero10). I was very surprised to learn theLOTUS123 program as well as all the spreadsheets, which date back to 1987,were on the new computer and worked perfectly. (I had tried toload LOTUS from the original disk before I heard of PCmover but it would not load.)
As it turned out the above 'NEW' computer was a piece of junk and I was forced to buy another new computer in April 2013, both were Windows7. I contacted PCmover and purchased a license to use the system a second time. This is where my problems began. When I called PCmover, it didn't take long to learn that they had sold me a license for the home addition, instead of the professional addition which I had originally purchased. They immediately changed this to the professional addition, and I started again. Again I was having problems, so I contacted their help line number ending in 9644. This is on the other side of the world, and within a matter of minutes, I was told that my problem was my computers were infected with viruses, which would have to be removed before the system would work. The cost was going to be 152.00 dollars. I told them I would not accept that charge and proceeded to solve the problem myself. The problem turned out to be that I had PCmover 7 on one computer and PCmover8 on the other computer. Once I changed and got both computers on PCmover 8, again in 5 hours everything was moved from the old computer to the new computer. The bottom line is PCmover is fantastic, but PCmover contractor to provide technical assistance is nothing but a bunch of crooks. I dealt with them for many hours last fall when I was having trouble with that first computer, and after 10 hours on the phone and an offer to debug my computers at that time at a cost of 350.00 dollars, which I did not accept,I hung up and did not call back. The problem there was the computer was defective, not the data in it. The only nice thing is PCmover works so great, you will never need to contact the contractor pirates.

"Easy Way to Upgrade your system!"

Pros

PCMover takes the frustration of upgrading a system from XP to Windows 7 (or 8). It will move programs as well as data and does a good job of maintaining the "look and feel" of the previous system. It works equally well in upgrading a single computer or moving data and programs to a new system.

Cons

You should make sure the old system is clean and virus free before attempting the move. If upgrading to a new system, it is best if you do not "preinstall" old programs on the new computer before the move. It does require one license per each "new" computer. Of course, you also need the proper Windows operating system license as well. When upgrading the operating system on a single computer, you need to insure the new operating system will work properly with the hardware before the move.

Summary

I have upgraded Windows about 30 systems using PCMover both on single machines and between an old and a new system, and am totally pleased with the results.

"A great time-and-worry-saving product."

Pros

* Simple to use.
* 24/7 guidance available before and during the move.
* Lets you choose which folders/files/apps you wish to move.
* Allows roll-back if needed.
* No need to download/install/adjust the settings of your apps,
they are moved 'as is' by PCMover.

Cons

None that I am aware of.

Summary

I had a Win7 disc and wanted to upgrade from Vista.

I looked for a program which would keep my folders and files safe, and would also let me transfer my apps.

Luckily I found Laplink's PCMover, and chose the 'Upgrade Assistant' option in order to upgrade in the same laptop.

A downloaded .pdf file (printed out to be available during the upgrade) gave me a detailed guide (with screenshots) to the whole procedure.

As advised, first I backed up externally an image of Vista's C:\ drive. Then I installed Win7, then PCMover, and after choosing which folders,files and apps I wanted to move to Win7 or leave behind, I completed the upgrade.

Everything had been moved intact, including settings, and after installing Microsoft's updates I was able to use Win7 as my operating system. Thanks to PCMover the whole move to a new o/s (the program works for Win8 too) was achieved without stress.

If you need extra guidance/advice about the move there is a customer services chatline available 24/7 which I found extremely helpful.
