(From Vaita ):With OsaSync Lite you can synchronize Microsoft Outlook 2000/2002/2003 contacts on your LAN or VPN between four computers. Without needing Exchange server you can collaborate with others and save your customers in a Common Contacts Folder or you can synchronize your contacts folder with your laptop. Changes are automatically reflected in the item on the other computer(s). OsaSync Lite is very easy to install and configure and supports the use of PDA's or cell phones. Supported languages are English, Dutch, German, French, Italian, and Spanish.
Version 7.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Version: OsaSync Lite 7.1
"Lite version is excellent for sharing contacts... and it's free!"
Pros: Vaita certainly has done the Outlook using community a service by providing this exceptional software free of charge. It allows you to synchronize contacts amongst multiple computers with ease. There is a limitation on the amount of computers you can share with the free version, but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head. I believe that it's 5.
Anyway, if you need a simple program with excellent website support that allows you to simply share contacts amongst your home or small office network, in my opinion this free option can't be beat, and is highly recommended!
Cons: PLEASE NOTE that ALL of these cons are solved by paying to upgrade to the PRO version, which i have done. I am just putting them here to give a realistic picture of what the free version does:
1) Can't sync anything but contacts.
2) Can only be run in peer-to-peer mode.
3) Limited amount of computers can sync.
4) Can't be used for 2 user logins on the same computer.

"Great Concept - didn't work out for me"
Pros: Much cheaper than exchange server. Great concept. Looked perfect for my needs.
Cons: Wanted like crazy to avoid exchange server but after months of trying osa I gave up. It would lock up my outlook then I'd have to re-install. Then end up with duplicates of everything. Clean it up but then eventually it would start locking up Outlook again - repeat process until you give up. Maybe it was that I used Outlook 2000 but it is supposed to work with it.

"Irritating Effect on Outlook"
Pros: It worked as advertised. I had one computer (WinXP laptop) with tons of e-mail and zillions of folders within outlook and wanted to sync that with a newly purchased computer (WindXP desktop). It works with Outlook running. You can selectively sync different folders or not. It syncs in both directions.
Cons: It annoyingly slowed down my outlook. It works by keeping a record of changes in a shared folder on each machine and it seemed to spend a lot of energy keeping that log up to date. I kept getting little error messages popping up about how this or that didn't work or couldn't be synchronized. The select mechanism for which folders to sync is clunky ... you can't multi-select and it doesn't automatically include subfolders. I have lots of folders and never did get them all synched. There's another way in which one can bulk sync, but that required copying over the PST file and I didn't try it. The synch operation is slow. Twice my outlook froze for unknown reasons, but it never froze before installing OSASync and it hasn't frozen since uninstalling it.
I don't recommend this product. I've installed EZOutlookSync and although it's too soon to comment much on it, I've already synced everything with no problem.

"i used PRO but thats VERY good at what it does"
Pros: I have to say, i do like this, it will Sync when Outlook is OPEN and its LIVE ive watched the other PC update the screen to see it arrive while its open. You can change settings like how often this works. I used PRO and that has a server share so its easier BUT it does work and fully integrated.
It has the ability to add a 5 letter prefix to items its pushing to other PCS TASKS and Calender.
You can push folders as READ ONLY, you can push ONE item as "share" then tell it if they delete it deletes on yours as well or doesnt touch yours. I didnt fully test this for the below reasons...
It creates Unique ID for items as well so knows when you update a Name, it doesnt duplicate it, it really does update it. Clever that, but then thats how this sort of software should be....
Cons: There arnt enough push / pull settings, its all or nothing, this is ok with 2 PCs but when you have a larger amount (i have 7) then sometimes you want a machine to PUSH everything and not pull everything back. I have emailed about this and really hope they fix it. Other than this point (which is quiet a large one) its very good. Hasnt crashed (as yet).
