Talk about an omnivore's dilemma. Although OmniFormat converts files among more than 75 formats, it turned in a less-than-stellar performance in our tests. It often output blank images and crashed when trying to convert large DOC files. The recognition quality of its OCR module was poor, even with the easiest texts. Potentially most frustrating of all, it actually overwrote the original files when converting. This isn't a bug, by the way, but a deliberate, if inexplicable, decision on the part of the designers. OmniFormat also occasionally pops up ads. Give it this, though: it's a snap to use. You simply choose folders to monitor and select the output format. Whenever a file appears in one of the monitored folders, the program automatically converts it. To our minds, that convenience doesn't make up for OmniFormat's many flaws. We'd suggest steering clear, at least for now.

Doesnt seem to convert wpd/doc as claimed

Summary
I found several websites that will convert wpd to doc, but I was having trouble finding any that will go the other way. I found this and it looked promising, so I jumped through all the hoops to install it. When I ran it though, there is no selection for doc or wpd in the drop down. I looked through the online help page and it says for wpd "Available if Word 2000 or later is installed. Requires Word Import Converter" I have Word 2010 installed, but I dont know what Word Import Converter is. Also - why should this program REQUIRE word to already be installed? Isnt this a converter program? Or is the help doc admitting that this program really doesnt do anything that the regular program doesnt already do - but now you can do it with spam/commercials!? To its favor, it seems that this program is very much geared towards converting to and from PDF to basically anything. If I need to convert to/from a pdf, Ill definitely try this out. Until then, this program is completely useless.

Rearranges the converted pics in a random order. sometimes puts the pics in a file different from what you told it to. when you see it screwing up you can't get it to stop until it's done.

Destroyed Every File in the Directory!

Every File in the Directory Was Lost. Can't choose one file to convert.
Summary
I needed a program to convert a PDF to a graphics format. No one else seems to have thought of such a thing. This program destroyed every PDF file in an entire directory in less than five seconds, several of 3 to 5 MB. Do not run it.
It is great for all graphic needs.

memory consuming program, hard to uninstall - not enough to remove from the list of the programs and even its keys (hard to find them all)

I've heard once that every good program is easly removable. As for this one it would be hard to say that Omniformat should be categorised to this group. Every time I start Windows appears information of "Windows Instalator" forcing me to install it again... I do not know how to remove it. I wasn't sure about my decision to remove it at the beginning, but after those problems I'm 100% sure that I did right getting rid of this program. I hope one day I also remove those problems which start to become really ennoying. Do not instal this on your computer!!!

I have tried from three different sources to download this program, and it will not. So I doubt that it's just a broken link. Perhaps because of some of the problems listed above they're trying to get it to do a good job.
