hundreds of people on message boards everywhere trying to download,iinstall the "free"?? database 5.1* days of reinstalling, finding some quirk that allows the install to go through. no guidence from the web site -- really really bad!!!!!!

Its very simple to use, there isn't much to using it.
Cons
The fact that you have to manually delete my.ini again in local applications is annoying if you messed up with user administration.

Pros
After I installed NAVICAT (MySQL GUI), I can import Oracle, MS SQL, MS Access, Excel, CSV, XML or other formats to MySQL very easily. I can even create a schedule to automate the import action.
Cons
The free version of Navicat Lite is good but it has no import feature yet.

Pros
MySQL server 5 is very stable, fast. Recently, I tried to import Excel or MS Access data to MySQL by a GUI - Navicat (MySQL GUI) . I can set schedule to execute the batch job. Now, most jobs are automatic.
Cons
I hope MySQL can provide more advanced database features.
