Money Manager Ex provides an easy method for monitoring household income and expenditures. While easy to operate, users may be turned off by the amount of work required to keep the numbers accurate.

The program's interface is easily the highlight of Money Manager Ex. With a simple-to-manage tree outlining accounts and reports, users can quickly monitor their situations. Inputting new data flowed intuitively and required a small commitment of time. In addition, the program provides users with an incredibly in-depth Help file, providing details on every aspect of the program. The program plans ahead for investments, savings, and expenses. Our finances were showcased quickly and easily, which was a highlight. Our only concern is that users will not like how much work the program requires. Each debit card purchase, check written, and dollar spent needs to be cataloged in order to provide an accurate representation, which we felt could take a lot of time. However, for someone willing to do the work, the results are great.

The program also features easy-to-operate reports. With several pie charts showcasing incoming and outgoing money, users can virtually see their money. This freeware program is a lot of work for users. However, we feel the work is worth it, as Money Manager Ex provides an accurate snapshot of your financial world.

Good Free Accounting Software

Pros
Simple, easy-to-use accounting software. Can cope with unlimited numbers of accounts for free!
Cons
Would be good if there were more options to customise software to users' preferences. Required instant reinstallation of later version immediately after installing. Would like to see a wider choice of account types such as loans, money owed to me and mortgages.
Summary
Many other pieces "free" accounting software are simply adverts which don't allow users to use them in any meaningful way. This is truely free. It's simple to use and works well, although there are features which some other pieces of software have which this doesn't. Hopefully this will improve during future updates.

- portable - easy to use and explain to other users - 90% translated in other languages (french in my case) - easy way to add a new operation (in money deluxe i'm still looking for it) - easy to use filters - nice collection of reports written by the communities to extend the possibilities of the software
Cons
- a pity we cannot use the filters to generate the reports - impossible to change the dates range or type of graphics (barplot, pie, etc) for a given report - exporting in CSV with accentued characters (UTF8) is not working well
Summary
A very nice software, much more intuitive then Microsoft Money, Home Bank or Ace Money Lite for instance. Mint.com is the most voted manager out there, but we cannot use it outside US. This software is better for european people.

Pros
The soft ware seems to be good, I just started setting up the accounts so I will have to wait and see if it lives up to my expectations. I have a feeling that it will.
Cons
When I downloaded the software not only did it download a tool bar I didn't want but it also downloaded an application for an online storage site. (I all ready use an online storage through Just Cloud) and those are only the ones that I noticed. Hopefully they are the only two that you downloaded. I will be going through my computer with a fine tooth comb to make sure that there aren't any more and that the ones that were downloaded didn't cause any damaged to my laptop.

I can understand the need to advertise but downloading ANYTHING without the users knowledge is pretty messed up! Doing things like that can mess up a persons computer. I have used your site many times in the past (It has been a long time since I have done so) I loved your site and have never noticed the extra downloads before. Maybe if you ask before you download behind the scene you would have better luck with people actually using the programs you are trying to push. Now don't get me wrong....you are one of the best download sites but I have to admit that I would be very careful if I ever use your site again until the secret download issue has been corrected
Overall I love the program.

It is easy to use, customize and is fast.
Cons
Sometimes it will break and I have to uninstall and re-install it. After doing that it works again but it loses all the customization settings, which is frustrating.

1) Ease of Use. 2) Free. 3) Multiple accounts. 4) Numerous reporting option. 5) Will give a birds eye view of you spending pattern.
Cons
Some time it crashes abruptly when trying to use the 'Transaction Report'. And could improve on the looks.
Summary
Overall, must have money management software if you are looking for a free and open source one.

Pros
Excellent interface. Simple to set up once you follow the instructions. Does everything the average person needs and more. I have migrated to this after my new computer had difficulty with sunset Money 2003. I find it a much better program than Money.
Cons
Only a minor one. The recurring transaction facility could be more flexible by adding: x days x weeks x months
Summary
I have looked at a lot of chequebook-type freeware for both iPpad and Windows. This is the best by far. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Math is accurate. Additons and subtractions are 'on the money'.

Cannot find a way to print the ledger.

Program is good. Well worth the time and effort required for manual input. Would recommend it to most. Printing must be dealt with, however.
