This is a great re-sizeable calculator with on-screen tape. Perfect for using the keypad with. Easy to enlarge, can change color schemes to a few built-in schemes. You can save the tape as a txt file too.
When downloading from Download.com, be sure to read all the prompts and use CUSTOM install to avoid all the junk CNET tries to stick you with, some of which is questionable. Decline the other software installs, and then you should finally get to the calc install.
I don't like how if the calc is already open somewhere in the background it gives you a dialog box and you have to click OK. If it's already open, it should just bring it to the front. Would like some other color schemes, too.
Great calc for everyday use. Use Custom install to avoid junkware.
great program. I love having an area I can see the calculations I performed.
downloading it from cnet.com was a mess. Even though I checked the boxes not to download other software, It did anyway. three or four programs. I attempted to uninstall the other programs before they were installed was the message I received. I got the programs uninstalled but it was a struggle.
download it from Moffsoft website it comes without a bunch of other programs.
It is a calculator and it performs basic math functions.
I ended up with toolbars, an external file backup program, an adblock program that was - in itself - an ad, and a 4th program that looked like a utility file, but wasn't.
I'm kinda peeved that c|net would give a positive review to a software upload that contains potential malware, along with the standard adware and garbage that gunked up my browser ON MY WORK COMPUTER, thanks. Next time, mention that up front, would ya?
Did everything I wanted in a windows calc replacement and much much more.
None that I can see.
I just wanted a simple calculator with a tape function, and this one does that. You can also save the tapes.
I didn't notice any problems.
Never used the product - see cons
During the download, my Norton Security Software flagged a "Adware Crossid activity". So once the load completed, I removed the software.
This may be nothing. But I will not use anything that has this stigma associated with it, when I can find plenty of other calculators to do the job.
Shows you the progression of the calculations like it would be on paper. I find that very helpful.
I didn't appreciate that it was bundled with other stuff, but you could easily option out of it.
If you have somehow "lost" your MS Calculator, this is an excellent replacement.
good UI and color options
missing multiply and divide symbol
Been using the Moffsoft Free Calculator for years. Each time I buy a new computer or replace a hard drive, this is one of the first programs I re-download.
This just your simple, perfectly working calculator with a "virtual paper tape" feature. IF you are at all like me, and susceptible to the occasional wild keystroke, being able to see the "tape" trail as my blazing fingers do their thing is incredibly handy dandy.
none at all (this box requires a minimum of 10 characters...)
get it -- its free, and super duper awesome!
2. Works well & does percentages
3. It's got a running tape
1. Pretty bland looking; more or less flat 2D-looking but who really cares as long as it works?
2. I would like to be able to enlarge it, but again, this is mere nit-picking
