CNET Editors' review
Many try to improve on the standard Windows calculator, and Moffsoft FreeCalc does a fairly good job of it. Besides the traditional functions, this calculator offers extras such as SQRT through a bigger, easier interface. Our favorite feature is the "transaction tape," essentially an ongoing record of all calculations performed. You'll never again be at square one after accidentally pressing C--just look at the tape and start from your last calculation. Number crunchers will be sure to appreciate FreeCalc's enhancements to their primary tools.Publisher's Description
From Moffsoft:
Moffsoft FreeCalc is a great replacement for your existing Windows calculator. We took the standard Windows calculator functionality and added a printable/savable transaction tape, sizable display, tray icon, digit groupings, color schemes, double- and triple-zero keys, visible memory value, and an always-on-top setting.

"Wanted a calculator... ended up with so much more"
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
It is a calculator and it performs basic math functions.
Cons
I ended up with toolbars, an external file backup program, an adblock program that was - in itself - an ad, and a 4th program that looked like a utility file, but wasn't.
I'm kinda peeved that c|net would give a positive review to a software upload that contains potential malware, along with the standard adware and garbage that gunked up my browser ON MY WORK COMPUTER, thanks. Next time, mention that up front, would ya? -
"Great calculator, easy to see, use, resize, customize."
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
Did everything I wanted in a windows calc replacement and much much more.
Cons
None that I can see.

"Works well"
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
I just wanted a simple calculator with a tape function, and this one does that. You can also save the tapes.
Cons
I didn't notice any problems.
-
"Download triggered a security alert."
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
Never used the product - see cons
Cons
During the download, my Norton Security Software flagged a "Adware Crossid activity". So once the load completed, I removed the software.
This may be nothing. But I will not use anything that has this stigma associated with it, when I can find plenty of other calculators to do the job. -
"Better than the standard MS Calculator"
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
Shows you the progression of the calculations like it would be on paper. I find that very helpful.
Cons
I didn't appreciate that it was bundled with other stuff, but you could easily option out of it.
Summary
If you have somehow "lost" your MS Calculator, this is an excellent replacement.

"good UI but missing multiply and divide symbol"
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
good UI and color options
Cons
missing multiply and divide symbol
-
"been using for years -- perfect!"
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
Been using the Moffsoft Free Calculator for years. Each time I buy a new computer or replace a hard drive, this is one of the first programs I re-download.
This just your simple, perfectly working calculator with a "virtual paper tape" feature. IF you are at all like me, and susceptible to the occasional wild keystroke, being able to see the "tape" trail as my blazing fingers do their thing is incredibly handy dandy.Cons
none at all (this box requires a minimum of 10 characters...)
Summary
get it -- its free, and super duper awesome!

"It works, it's free & it's got a tape!"
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
1. Free
2. Works well & does percentages
3. It's got a running tapeCons
1. Pretty bland looking; more or less flat 2D-looking but who really cares as long as it works?
2. I would like to be able to enlarge it, but again, this is mere nit-picking -
"Works great"

Pros
It works without a hitch. The main value is you can just use it without having to think about it.
Cons
Nothing so far.
-
"A calculator that's easy to read!"
Version: Moffsoft FreeCalc 1.2.0.6
Pros
Simple, clean and very easy to use.
Cons
Should include an exchange conversion capability.
Summary
Good calculator and its free!
