• The only easy way to publish Kindle books

  Pros

  Graphical interface, allows for creation of a native cover and native "Go to" menu of a Kindle book; the .opf file is compatible with all versions of KindleGen and you can "upgrade" your MobiPocket book if you build it using the .opf file in KindleGen.

  Cons

  A few bugs; cover image should be in the same folder as the .opf file, otherwise gives errors; TOC wizard requires all fields to be filled out for each level of TOC (tag name, attribute, and value), otherwise fails in Windows 7; creation of NCX is difficult and has bugs, it requires different code from KindleGen code in the .opf file.

  Summary

  Amazon has yet to create an up-to-date user-friendly program for generation of ebooks. Until then, MPC is the only viable option.

  Pros

  Pretty good GUI, simple to use, imports the most popular formats for you to create your ebook and possibly publish to mainstream distributors.

  Cons

  Their Table of Contents fails (programming error), importation of multiple files are not automatically arranged sequentially

  Summary

  Mainly use this to reformat my filed into PRC / MOBI format for my Amazon Kindle and was trying to build a full eBook from scratch only to discover the cons above. All in all it works if you want to do a quick grab and go build eBook, but I would not recommend it fully if you're planning to launch your next novel with it.
