If you run a lot of computer games or other memory-hogging apps, you'll want to check out this toolbox for managing your system's memory usage. Setting thresholds for compressing or releasing memory is made simple with Memory Booster Gold, as is setting up a key combination to release memory on the fly.

Memory Booster Gold launches an attractive, user-friendly interface that's easy to understand and navigate. Although it offers many features, the well-designed interface isn't cluttered. We liked the liberal use of slide bars, which provide a solid visual for users to understand the levels of modification they're specifying. Adding processes to a blacklist for this utility to kill is a mere matter of entering the process name.

This memory optimizing toolbox performed well in our tests. Specifying a schedule to release memory was very simple, as was setting the threshold for compressing memory. The various tweaks Memory Booster Gold offers--including "Optimize NTFS's performance," "Use large system cache," and "Disable paging executive data"--gives the user a variety of ways to control system performance. A hot key to release memory on the fly was one of our favorite features, and like everything else with this suite of tools, was easy to set up.

This utility's ease of use will appeal to any user, and might be the reason behind the very short 9-day/18-use trial restrictions. Memory Booster Gold can help any user who wants more control over system memory and performance.
