CyberLink MediaEspresso costs more than many similar tools, but you get what you pay for: A sophisticated yet easy-to-use media converter that can handle most files and devices, including Apple, Android, and Windows smartphones, tablets, and media players, and popular game consoles, too. Plenty of tools can convert media files, including some capable freeware. MediaEspresso offers a robust, do-it-all capability in a streamlined interface, plus supports the latest graphics cards, multithread conversion, and direct upload to social media. CyberLink Media Espresso is free to try for 30 days (or 50 conversion runs) and costs $39.95.

We dragged a Flash video into the program's handy desktop widget, selected the file in MediaEspresso's main window (you can convert batches, too) and then clicked the smartphone icon. We selected our phone's brand from a long list, configured the output file type, quality, and other options on a properties sheet, and clicked "Convert." One neat touch: clicking the video rotated the main window into a media player that displayed our converted video full-size, not as a mere preview pane.

CyberLink MediaEspresso's top-quality user interface, beginner tutorials, and device-oriented conversion process make for a program that a wide range of users can manage, with ease; in fact, that may be its chief recommendation over similar but less expensive (or free) software: We hesitate to use the word "foolproof," partly because no software is, but MediaEspresso goes out of its way to make things easy for users who have A) a computer; B) a smartphone; and C) some media files they'd like to move from A to B; but really don't want to attain a deeper understanding of the process, thank you very much! In the end, it seems to be a matter of cost vs. convenience: MediaEspresso isn't free, and it isn't small, and its footprint is larger than freeware that does much the same thing. But if you're intimidated or put off by stripped-down apps or tools that seem to assume more software skills than you're prepared to cop to, CyberLink MediaEspresso is well worth its free tryout.

Very nice interface. Simple steps do get the job done. For people who have no idea what encoding trans-coding is and they want to use their results on gadgets like iPhone, android or these small playthings and have their movies in NTSC! is probably a nice tool... The true theater enhancements are great!

All of you with PAL TVs, PAL DV-Cams stay away!!! For this mediaespresso (I have version 7 as a freebee with Powerdvd 14) cannot handle PAL. Half the users of probably more of this globe are excluded! Cannot import big avi's Cannot convert DVD's into MP4, It just can convert one file into one file. For people who have a slight understanding of encoding this program is utterly useless, for one hardly has any options for tweaking. Photos are 2 formats, MP3 are three bitrates, only the higher ones and MP4 only a few options for your bitrate. For a one and a half hour movie it takes 33 min to encode, whereas my Adobe Media Encoder CS6 takes about 8 or 9 minutes.

Sorry Cnets review of excellent gives a wrong impression of this software. They should clearly state that this software is good tool to transfer your media, not DVD Movies!, to an external phone, tablet or android system or any kind of these play gadgets, but not for people who use PAL! or want to view the output on their big TV screen tv or Computer, for these purposes there is much better software available. Nero Recode does a very good job for these needs. You don't have to use professional software like Adobe CS6 like me.

By way of example, I wanted a DivX file with MP3 audio, because this pairing is the only AVI that will play on a DVD RW in my Sony DVD player/recorder. The only audio option available is "Dolby Digital", which means I get a completely silent movie. I got this program free when I purchased a Power Director upgrade, but there is no way that I would ever pay for MediaEspresso. As someone has already pointed out, there are free converters out there that give multiple options for video and audio, and I'll stick with Any Video Converter Free, or AVS, one that I didn't mind paying for. How Cyberlink has the nerve to charge people big bucks, or even any bucks, for the mediocre MediaEspresso, is beyond me. I consider that the program functions are about 5% of what they actually should be, and that Cyberlink could have done an awful lot better.

Unless you pay $30 for a couple months of tech support you can talk to nobody. I just wanted all the features of my legal and paid for cyberlink program to work and there is a activation issue. There is no number to call, not even for sales, and it is very apparent through thier email support system responses they could care less. That is if you get a response. If they made a good product don't you think they wouldn't be afraid to help thier customers?

Enabling ATI Streams acceleration of transcoding to MPEG4 AVC does not provide a speed advantage. Additional flexibility of encoder quality would be very helpful.

Transcoding speed is significantly slower than provided by the ATI AVIVO converte,r which is free with the graphics card. Enabling hardware acceleration provides no improvement in performance, despite significant GPU usage (as shown in the ATI Catalyst control center activity monitor)

I'm not sure whether its size is appropriate for such a software or not, but I neglect this disadvantage. Perhaps it should have supported a wider range of media format.
