From M-T Software :Matrix Maker X is designed to facilitate the easy creation and formatting of twelve-tone matrices (12 x 12 arrays) used in the composition and/or analysis of twelve-tone music, as well as the creation and formatting of 7 x 7, 6 x 6, and 5 x 5 matrices (or, for that matter, of any dimension from 2 x 2 through 12 x 12). Any number of matrices can be created without exiting and re-initializing the application; this is particularly advantageous if the program is being used in a networked environment. Extensive documentation in HTML format can be viewed by utilizing any of the current Macintosh browsers.
Matrix Maker X can not only create and format matrices: it can also analyze the properties of the set. This feature is accessible for hexachords and complete twelve-tone sets; the application will analyze sets for both hexachordal and tetrachordal combinatoriality.
This application offers the following features:
- OS X support (this version runs on OS X only)
- New GUI
- Analysis of properties of sets now includes both hexachordal and tetrachordal combinatoriality
- Ability to play the set so that you can listen to it
- Dynamic editing of set properties
- Additional on-line documentation available through the Help menu includes a brief overview of twelve-tone theoretical concepts

What's new in this version:
Corrects a bug that occasionally provided incorrect analytical information for certain types of transformed 12-tone sets. If you have had problems purchasing this product on line, please re-download and reinstall it. There was a registration problem that was corrected on February 16th.

Version: Matrix Maker X 1.1.7
"Too much money for too simple a program."
Pros: Quick and easy.
Cons: Does not use note names and should be free. Notes are entered by pitch class numbers and the resulting matrix has only pitch class numbers in each grid rather than the more common note names.
