• Adjusts gain in several useful ways

  Pros

  One mode equalizes perceived average loudness of several tracks quickly and effectively. If you have an album of classical music, an alternative mode adjusts the average for all tracks in the album but maintains their same relative loudness. (Flute track will remain softer, for example.) The program displays the average perceived loudness of all tracks selected, and you can adjust the loudness individually. According to the help file this is completely reversible, but I have not tried that. Love this program and donated to the author, although the program is full function and completely free. One of the best freeware programs ever.

  Cons

  None so far. Great software. No malware detected or other unwanted installations.

  Summary

  I had some mp3 music that was too soft, now all tracks are louder and the same volume setting is satisfactory for all of them.

• Mp3Gain vs. MP3GAINPRO (mp3gain-pro.com) - careful!

  Pros

  Just a warning not to get Mp3Gain mixed up with "mp3gainpro". They are two different apps, two different writers. "mp3gainpro" seems to have zero support and does NOT do cross-file leveling like Mp3Gain here does. I am not impressed with Mp3gainpro, zero response for two support inquiries and the results are very hard to determine after running the normalizing process. It is internal to the file, not cross-file. Be aware, they charge $25 bucks for it and good luck.

  Use this (Mp3Gain) not Mp3gainpro ( mp3gain-pro.com ). Sorry, I didn't have any of the search bar or disk demand that others had. It installed ok and just ran (vanilla Win 7 machine)

  It does what is is designed to do. You can equalize one song at a time, an entire album, or hundreds of separate songs from different folders.

  I have not found anything wrong with MP3Gain. It is a great little program that has saved me a lot of time.

  Summary

  MP3Gain does NOT install malware on your computer. If you idgets would stop clicking through installation setups without paying attention to what you are doing, you would not have the problems that you do. MP3Gain is a good program. You guys need to learn to read.

  Pros

  First of all, to all those crying "Malware" and "Toolbar", go to the MP3Gain website and download it from there. No Malware or toolbars. It does what it says and quite quickly too. Very good

  Cons

  According to the website, the current version hasn't been updated since 2009. If theres a newer version somewhere please let me know. You cannot drag and drop files or folders and have to select them one at a time, very time consuming if you want to do your library in batches as I do.

  The best at what it does but not up to date.

• INSTALLED MALWARE!!!!!

  NONE BECAUSE IT INSTALLED MALWARE

  Cons

  I used CNET installer for this program and made sure during install that it did not install any other offered programs. Did so any way (at least 4 programs) that I deleted using REVO Unstaller. It also installed an anti-virus called AVA which took control of my computer and is now at the shop getting cleaned out.

  Summary

  DO NOT INSTALL AS YOU WILL BE TAKING A CHANCE ON HAVING MALWARE INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER.

  <br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Feb 2, 2013<p/>Went direct to the MP3gain website and downloaded the program from there - no dodgy search bar, so it looks like that is added by the cnet site. Program itself has worked fine so far.

  Program work great--but there's a serious malware problem.

  Cons

  Although I unchecked the box to download funmoods it did it anyway--and hijacked the search engine on my browser. Stay away from this!

  Summary

  Avoid this unless you enjoy trying to get rid of malware.
