MP3DirectCut gives you the tools you need to remove sections of a video and then reattach the other sections to create a smooth finished product. The intuitive interface makes the app's features accessible to all users, and the quick processing makes completing a project an overall pleasant experience.

Pros

Nice interface: The tools and other controls for this program are clearly arrayed around the main window. There is a large time readout over the audio track visual, and three sections of controls below let you access the various Navigation, Editing, and Audio Tools.

Compression option: This program also give you the ability to compress your completed MP3 files into PCM format. This gives you the luxury of additional space on your machine, as PCM files take up considerably less space than their MP3 counterparts.

Cons

Tricky installation: This program comes in the form of a self-extracting ZIP file, but the automated extraction doesn't work. Instead, you have to locate the file in your Downloads folder and extract it manually. Once you've done that, though, installation can proceed normally.

Bottom Line

MP3DirectCut is a free program that offers plenty of functionality in a convenient and intuitive package. If you often need to remove sections of MP3 files or combine others, this is a good program to try.

Very handy with quality playback

Summary
Playback easily beats that of any MP3 player I've used - including those with audio enhancement plugins. It is easily my preferred player when listening to music.. and with the looping feature, it's easy to play music continuously without pausing or restarting, like ambient or nature sounds. I do wish it had more noise reduction functions... which would handy when trying to enhance MP3 files under 128k... the hissing sounds which are inherent to the files become even more pronounced when raising output.
Absolutely indispensable.

For the little tasks it's the best thing going. It doesn't need to load the file and when you're familiar with it you can chop a recording into tracks in seconds or get rid of adverts by eye.
Cons
Trial and error is the way to learn it but once you know it intuition is at Force like levels. I couldn't open it directly from the download, it couldn't write the path but I went to the Download folder and right clicked "extract", worked fine.

Pros
Works directly in MP3 format, avoiding slow conversions. Offers fast playback to locate an editing point quickly. For years I've used Audacity to remove the annoying chat at the start of a recorded radio program, but Audacity's overkill for the purpose, and correcpondingly slow. This program's really slick for such basic tasks, once you learn what all the buttons do!
Cons
There are many buttons whose purpose isn't clear unless you hover the mouse or refer to the online help (which is good and clear).

Mp3DirectCut Audio Editor: An excellent free (lossless) program that doesn't degrade files if or when editing over and over, unlike most other (paid or free) Audio Editors. This is especially important when working with the already stripped-down nature of Mp3. The program is light, fast and straightforward.
Cons
Unfortunately, the author falls terribly short on including, easy to follow, step by step directions, for a first time user. Maybe waiting for users to supply a manual?
Summary
If you have the time to learn this light weight and basic program, through trial and error, it's worth having. Theres not that many commands, but it would have been nice to add directions for a first timer, rather than a seasoned user who already knows.
