Legends of Cosrin

Publisher's Description

From Online Games Company:

Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Game. Journey through a land of epic adventure, a realm of hard won victory in a gritty fantasy setting. Set yourself against fiendish puzzles, devilish creatures and cunning traps in a fight to see who will triumph, and who will fall by the wayside. Not for the faint of heart, the roads through Cosrin are long, but the journey is well rewarded. Take part in the online adventure, in a text world of danger and mystery. Few of these have what it takes to flourish in such a world, do have you the makings of a hero within you?

Visit the Bandit Caves under Stormport, learn what made Stormport the reclusive city it was until recently. Mages and Fighters guilds of Moorgate split, resulting in two new guilds which will have a tumultuous introduction to the status-quo between the existing guilds. It's a new beginning, a beginning of which you can play a role. What will happen in the months to come? Time will tell, but the possibilities are great.

    "now with unlimited free play"

    August 13, 2006  |   By Erzebet

    Version: Legends of Cosrin 0.423

    Pros

From the brains who brought you Terris, the most popular online game from AOL Europe, and Warhammer Online, Legends of Cosrin has had a lot going for it -- and for a long time, too.

The most important revent development has been the introduction of unlimited freeplay. The limited log-ins are removed and newbies can play for as long as they wish. Just as well, old characters from long ago can now log back in and pick up right where they left off without having to re-register.

The land is still populated by its hardcore RP crowd but the community is still as welcoming as it has ever been (if not moreso)

The atmosphere is as perilous, dark, and herois as ever and there is much to see and still do.

I welcome you to try it out.

    Cons

There are a few drawbacks to the unlimited play but nothing serious that a relatively skilled player couldn't handle:

    1. players will cap at level 50 and are required to register in order to advance any further (but believe me, it takes a long while to reach that level)

    2. buff spells from players and spell services from NPCs cannot be cast upon those who are un-registered but enhancement pastes, potions, food and drink still work.

    3. RP points cannot be given to unregistered players (but that is a small matter and does not negatively affect growth)

    4. skills can only be learned in NPC shops and not from studying off other players

"It has its ups and downs."

    July 10, 2005  |   By Jellybean90

    Version: Legends of Cosrin 0.423

    Pros

Many choices when it comes to race and class.

8 guilds to choose from. [4 In the City of Moorgate, 4 in the City Of Stormport.]

Lots of room to RP the way you wish.

Cosrin is always expanding, and getting better.

    Cons

    Lag here and there.

If you get booted while advanced, you loose all your experience.

But most of all, Highly addictive.

"There is a charge - beware!"

    July 7, 2005  |   By simonator180

    Version: Legends of Cosrin 0.423

    Pros

Great game overall - a new kind of text game because you can use your mouse instead of having to type all the commands!

    Cons

There is a charge of 3 British pounds after you have logged in 5 times, and you are restricted to register before you can continue.

    "Ancient"

    July 5, 2005  |   By reeyalistic

    Version: Legends of Cosrin 0.423

    Pros

    Roleplaying is encouraged

Fairly witty humor in room descriptions

    Attentive Staff

Excellent History created by Player base.

    Cons

Too slow to update. Took almost 7 years for one city to be added that you could see in the distance. After the long wait...anticlimactic is the only word to describe it. No graphics. This is a MUD. Text based RPG. If you are looking for graphics..you've come to the wrong place. Terris, the "OTHER" Cosrin is the original world of the two. Cosrin IS the red-headed step child that gets beaten on a regular basis. You'll have more fun playing with rule books and dice than running around here. If you are looking for the best MMORPG..this is NOT it. It's not the worst but it is certainly NOT the best.

    "stable, fun, well-established"

    July 2, 2005  |   By freshfroglegs

    Version: Legends of Cosrin 0.423

    Pros

-excellent graphical interface that makes for easy adjustment and tweaking; highlight strings, sounds, macros, chat and shout boxes, keyboard manipulation, etc...or you can even go old-school and strip it down to resemble telnet.

-players are incredibly dedicated and imaginitive with player-run economies, commodity treaties, clans, & storylines

-the quests range from quick and easy to simply beffudling

-you retain all your items when you die, unlike many other MUDs. (but there is the expected loss in gold and experience)

-immortals/staff are more than happy to create world-effects for your RP sessions

-no less than 528 race/profession/guild/sub-guild combinations possible (under-estimating on the side of caution)

-i've played for a year and a half so far and i have yet to see just half of all there is to see

    Cons

-some NPCs were written with a little bit of tongue-in-cheek humor that borders on camp (e.g. Stormport Dentist Phil McCavity)

-best played with a cable or dsl modem or else there will be some lag every now and again

"Great balance of Roleplay, exploring, questing. Players are very helpful."

    June 23, 2005  |   By Cynthor

    Version: Legends of Cosrin 0.423

    Pros

An RPG game with a unique interface, unique game engine, fun to explore, quest, fight, or roleplay, or all at once.

    Cons

Used to be only a few updates a year, recently that has completely changed so there are updates quite often. new quests, areas, items, races, a new city just as examples.

"Excellent rp, active staff and Immortals"

    June 21, 2005  |   By Kirklander

    Version: Legends of Cosrin 0.423

    Pros

    Pros-

-Plenty of races without it been over complicated and new races been added.

-Excellent MUD especially the layout i.e. not used on telenet: it is an easy to use 'gui' wizard.

-easy to use, friendly, colourful and vibrant.

-Active and on going RP (roleplay) which is encouraged.

-Plenty of levels to go through.

-Active and booming board that continues the rp.

    Cons

    Cons-

    Occasional lag.

Average players online is only 30 which is not alot, however with more downloads this will increase ;)

    -Delphi.
