• Nicely written basic editor for the do-it-your-selfer

  Pros

  The controls that are similar to most document editors so pretty much anyone can use it. The code it produces is clean and easy to understand. It does not use CSS

  Cons

  It does not use CSS. You have to manually make sure your image files are in appropriate directories. Though it runs fine without it (I cancelled out) it kept asking me to insert my MS Office disk till I did Does not have a form creator.

  Summary

  Unlike the other review I read all images display fine even if they were not in an appropriate directory (ie either the website directory or a sub of it). For what it's designed it's a great program. Very simple to use with all the most important basic functions toward creating a website for someone who just wants to design their own personal site. The manual lists a form creator but it must only be on the paid version. You can add forms manually using the code editor but no click and place automation appears to be available at this time. I found I manually had to put all the images into appropriate directories before I started creating a webpage or links to the images would not work correctly. I'll be watching this program for updates as I suspect it's going to be getting better. But for now it's a great little simple editor (I'm a professional web developer I'm getting this program for a friend who wants to be able to do basic work on her website)

  WYSIWYG feature doesnt work well, i uninstalled the program as soon as I saw that an image (even being placed in the same folder as the html file) wouldnt show in WYSIWG mode.

  Summary

  by far netscapes composer is the best free WYSIWYG editor
