Publisher's Description
From Callpod:
Keeper is a safe and secure way to store all of your secret passwords, notes, website logins and other top secret personal information on your laptop or desktop computer. Keeper's military-grade encryption (128-bit AES) allows data to be safely and securely stored on the hard drive of your computer, not online. The simple interface allows users to quickly access their stored information and search for specific records. Sync your records to your mobile device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, BlackBerry) with one click. Optional "Self Destruct" feature protects you further by erasing all data if the wrong password is entered 5 times. It's also easy to import or export your data to formats like Excel, PDF, tab-delimited text and secure encrypted format.
What's new in this version: Version 4.12 is a major update to Keeper with an improved user interface and more reliable sync experience with mobile devices.

Cons

Summary
Syncs easily with my iphone and updates without any hassles.
-
"I feel ripped off"
Version: Keeper Desktop 2.6.1
Pros
it used to work ok
Cons
Annual fee for syncing and cloud storage.
Summary
When I originally bought callpod keeper I liked it. It worked and synced with my iphone and I was happy. Then one day i discovered they had updated it and it will no longer sync with my iphone unless I pay an annual fee. I am not interested in cloud backup. I simply want it to do what it did when i bought it. I feel like I've been screwed. I emailed them but they never even acknowledged my email.
Happy Day. Those folks at callpod took care of my problem (and that of many others I expect). Since my purchase was before their roll-out of the annual subscription version of keeper, I was "grandfathered" in. And I also don't have to pay the annual fee. Sometimes it pays to get in on something early. I am very satisfied now.
I don't feel they are a company I can recommend to anyone.

"Not really a \"free trial\""
Version: Keeper Desktop 2.1b
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The site advertises that this is a free 15-day trial, but a key feature--the ability to import/export--is disabled in the trial and requires a full license. When I spoke with their customer service, I was informed that was indeed a licensed-only feature and explained that they support importing tab-separated files of exactly 5 fields. Not exactly what I'd call robust import.
Nevertheless, I did attempt to use the software for some time. It has a weak concept of folders--it seems to only allow a single depth. In other words, I couldn't find a way to create sub-folders.
Because I am looking for a product that I can use to manage password storage of my dozens of clients' different passwords as well as my own passwords, being able to establish a folder hierarchy is important to me.
Additionally, the user interface is not Mac-like at all and is kind of an eyesore. -
"Does the job - lots of room for improvement"
Version: Keeper Desktop 2.1b
Pros
It syncs with the mobile app on iPhone & Android and has Mac/Windows software. Stores password information.
Cons
Syncing between mobile devices requires multiple steps and is not automated. Password information is basic (username, password, note). Interface on Mac is a custom, unique interface that doesn't resemble any other application.
Summary
It has all the basic features needed, but there is lots of room for improvement.

"Step in right direction"
Version: Keeper Desktop 2.01
Pros
Desktop app syncs with device. Can view/edit both on desktop & device.
Single-click can auto-generate usernames and/or passwords.
WiFi syncing. Available for Mac, Linux, Windows, Android, iPhone.Cons
Limited to only 5 available fields per record. Only basic username/password fields.
Can't use cursor keys to scroll through records on desktop, must use mouse.
Syncing to device requires a few manual steps. No auto-sync.Summary
Having both a desktop & device app that syncs together is a good first step, but there is room for a lot more improvement. It is still a very basic password solution.

"Great way to manage sensitive information with iPhone!"
Version: Keeper Desktop 2.01
Pros
Easy to install (Mac OS 10.5), secure sync with iPhone, smooth import function, easy to follow instructions, self-destruct function to protect data from unauthorized access
Cons
Does not support Excel file import
Summary
Great tool! I purchased this to complete the transfer of ~200 passwords and other sensitive records from my Palm T3. This was the final step to migrate all the key functions I used on my Palm. First, made one last sync from my Palm to my desktop, then I exported all the records from the desktop app on my Palm; sorted, arranged and formatted for Keeper desktop; burned to CD; copied to my Mac (this is where I discovered that Keeper can't import Excel files); imported to Keeper Desktop; finally, sync'd to my iPhone over my wifi connection. Now I have all of my sensitive information with my on my iPhone whenever I need it.

"Keeps mobile and desk database synced with few hassles"
Version: Keeper Desktop 2.01
Pros
Works as promoted. No problems establishing syncing with mobile database. Can customize entry fields names.
Cons
Establishes duplicates when syncing between mobile and desktop that it simple counts and reports but does not make it easy to find and eradicate.
No syncing through iTunesSummary
Establishes duplicates when syncing between mobile and desktop that it simple counts but does not make it easy to eradicate. Since it does not list the duplicates in the report you have to manually scroll and search, that can be a nuisance if you have a lot of entries. Would be better if it brought them up for resolution when syncing.
No syncing through iTunes Syncing is only over LAN. -
"You should buy It"
Version: Keeper Desktop 2.01
Pros
Ease of use and simply prompts
Cons
There is nothing I don't like about the product
Summary
The program is easy to use and does what it says it will do for you. I now feel comfortable with keeping my passwords on my computer
-
"Just what I was looking for"
Version: Keeper Desktop 1.3 build 9.29.2009
Pros
Not too expensive (like worse ones), but enuf features and a desktop (essential) that works. Much easier to type into laptop.
Cons
Would like to be able to add my choice of extra fields. Things get dumped into "Notes", but they are still there!
Summary
Best I could find for the iPhone. Went thru several others.
