In the realm of privacy-protection applications, this one strikes us as a limited option. Though Jvw History Eraser's tabbed interface is easy to navigate, you'll be forced to look at a large ad for the duration of the short, one-week trial period. Like most apps of this stripe, this one can wipe away your Web-surfing traces, but it only works with Internet Explorer. Though the program can clean up common Windows system areas such as the Recycle Bin, it lacks support for third-party applications and can't irrecoverably delete files. On the plus side, Jvw History Eraser provides a boss key for quickly hiding all open browser windows, as well as a pop-up blocker with a blacklist. Internet Explorer users with very simple needs might take a peek at this app, but the majority of folks can find more powerful solutions, some of which are totally free.

This history eraser with a free pop-up blocker and IP spam killer includes an option to delete Windows temporary files, the Internet history folder, the Windows Recycle Bin, the temporary Internet folder (cache), the cookies folder, the scandisk CHK file, recently run programs, recently opened documents, the URL autocomplete list, the Windows Clipboard, Winzip's Recent File list, and Windows Media Player's playlist. It includes a boss-key IE panic button.
