Inline Search for Internet Explorer quickly searches a Web page for a specific word or phrase, but it so closely resembles IE's Find functionality, you'll wonder why it's necessary. Right off the bat, we were frustrated trying to figure out how to activate the toolbar. There isn't a Help menu, so after a visit to the publisher's Web site, we found that Ctrl F, the same hot key combo as Find, calls up a small toolbar that attaches itself to the bottom of your IE window. Looking at the toolbar brought on more deja vu. Both IE's native Find functionality and Inline Search feature a Search field, two navigational buttons, and a match case check box. The only real differences lie with Inline Search's highlight feature and toolbar positioning. The Highlight All feature highlights all instances of a word at once rather than each time the word is located. Also, we like that Inline Search's toolbar attaches itself to the bottom of the window so you can continuously search without having to pull up the Find function each time you need it. These two features may make this freeware a worthwhile download, but users looking for a complete overhaul of the IE Find function should look elsewhere.Publisher's description
From Core Services :Inline Search is an add-on for Internet Explorer that mimics Firefox's search behavior, it turns searching into a Web page into a non modal research experience coupled with a search as you type facility. It integrates into IE, giving it that little extra that makes you a lot more efficient when you are looking for a specific piece of information.

Version: Inline Search for Internet Explorer 1.3
Pros: It is a definite improvement from the normal find box.
When you type a word you're looking for, the background color in the toolbars entry field is white as long as the string of characters you've typed is present on the page. As soon as the set of of characters you've typed is not present on the page, the background color turns red.
The highlight funtion mentioned by the editor is also a definite pro. I just don't understand why MS made this an add-on.
Cons: My Norton 360 has a toolbar that informs you if an internet page is suspect. This toolbar pushes the inline search toolbar away so you don't see it. Annoying and I guess it may happen with more toolbars

Version: Inline Search for Internet Explorer 1.3
"Something IE Should Have Had Already"
Pros: Searches like Firefox's inline search. Can highlight search terms.
Cons: None that I can see.
Summary: One of the other IE add-ons that makes using IE tolerable. Also check out IE7Pro.
