More than a utility, this popular Firefox add-on is a minor revolution. It allows you to install scripts that customize the way the browser displays Web pages. For instance, a script might fix the colors and layout on badly designed pages, remove sponsored links and Flash, zoom images, convert currencies, or allow you to add comments. With the judicious use of wildcards, Greasemonkey scripts can be designed to work only on specific sites or on a variety of pages. Plenty of ready-made scripts are available on the Greasemonkey site, though many didn't work in our tests. You can also design your own, either manually or by using the Platypus tool. This latest version includes improved security and a new right-click feature that lets you easily enable and disable scripts. As for everyone else, if you're a Firefox user who likes to tinker and wants a glimpse of the future of Web browsing, Greasemonkey is a must-download.Publisher's description
From Mozilla :Greasemonkey is a Firefox extension that lets you add bits of DHTML (user scripts) to any Web page to change its behavior. In much the same way that user CSS lets you take control of a Web page's style, user scripts let you easily control any aspect of a Web page's design or interaction. For example you could make sure all URLs displayed in the browser are clickable links, improve the usability of a site you frequent, route around common and annoying Web site bugs, or use the Coral content network selectively.
Version 0.8.20090123.1 adds a bunch of new translations and fixes various bugs.
CNET Editor's Note: The Download Now link will prompt a local download of the Firefox extension. To install the extension directly, open the file using your Firefox browser.
