CNET Editors' review
Although there's not much to back up right now, it's good to see this tool for Google Chrome that will surely become more important as the program gains extensions and other complexities. Currently, the app can create and restore multiple profiles, although it wasn't able to bring back browsing histories during our tests.
The interface is pleasantly reminiscent of Google Chrome itself, with a clean layout and a plethora of options hidden behind slick drop-down menus. We were not impressed that the EXE comes in a ZIP, which added an unnecessary step to the installation. That's a minor quibble, though, and the program performed as promised.

"Buggy; was not able to restore"
Version: Google Chrome Backup 1.8.0.141
Pros
It wasn't that hard to download or install, and backing up was pretty easy.
Cons
After reinstalling Windows 7 and downloading the program again, it is buggy; like some other users I'm getting "Google Chrome is not installed" error messages at startup. More seriously, I've tried several times to restore from the .gcb file and it keeps failing, without giving any reason. I backed up my AppData folders too, in case this didn't work, and I'll have to use them.
Summary
I can't recommend this program - I haven't been able to successfully restore, and I can't find good support for the tool.
Update: not sure how, but at some point one of the "failed" restores actually worked. However, I would still say to use this at your own risk - I'll stick to copying AppData folders next time.

"Destroyed my data & froze when restoring profile"
Version: Google Chrome Backup 1.8.0.141
Pros
Nice interface
Cons
* Freezes when restoring a profile
* Destroys dataSummary
Destroyed a bunch of COMPLETELY UNRELATED files when I deleted a profile.
I put the stored profile in c drive because i thought this might make it work better - without freezing.
When I then deleted that profile, it destroyed all files in root C drive that weren't in folders!
It also appears to have destroyed other data in the c drive - because one of my other programs lost it's toolbars and the icons in the data. Who knows what else this piece of junk program has done. -
"Used to work. No longer works on current Chrome"
Version: Google Chrome Backup 1.8.0.141
Pros
With old Chrome, it was great. Backed up extensions, profile, cookies.
Cons
With the more recent versions of Chrome in windows XP, it will SAY it backs up your profile, but when it comes time to restore it . . . forget it. You lose everything.
Summary
It was great once upon a time when they had it working with Chrome, but apparently Chrome gets updated far, far more often than Parehelia can keep up with. Now it just plain doesn't work. If you download this, you may want to do a sandboxie install of Chrome so you can see that it won't restore your profile, but it locks up nicely.

"Restores everything, even my profile-error problem."
Version: Google Chrome Backup 1.8.0.141
Pros
It did a good job of restoring everything in the profile. My open tabs re-opened, all my settings were the same.
Cons
The problem is, I've been getting a profile-error, and thought, I could save my settings with this application, but uninstall and re-install Chrome, and then it would be fixed. But unfortunately, this imported the error again.
Summary
Good tool, just not the one I needed for my problem.
-
