Getting started assembling a family tree can be difficult, but Genealogy Finder offers links to several reputable sites that are up to the task. Upon launch, a small and simple window opens, displaying four rows of buttons that lead to several Web sites designed for every aspect of genealogy. You can quickly find long lists of links to people finders, family-tree makers, orphanages, genealogy tutorials, and countless other sites to help you in your quest. The freeware itself does not offer tools for creating family trees or building image Web sites, but collecting such a huge number of resources under one interface makes it a useful program. Anyone looking to get started on researching his or her family tree should check out the resources Genealogy Finder offers.Publisher's description

Version: Genealogy Finder 1.0
"I'd rather go to Cyndi's List"
Pros: Well, it works - and for the programmer it's probably a useful way to keep all their favourite links in one place.
Cons: What the programmer finds useful is not necessarily what you will find useful, especially if you come from another part of the world.
While the buttons give site names, they only give a short description of the actual content if you hover over them which is a real pain. I didn't want to waste my time visiting heaps of sites of no use me whatsoever while missing out on a site that possibly is of real value to you because it had a funny obscure name!
With internet resources changing constantly, and no update mechanism, the program will have a very limited shelf life.
A more comprehensive list of sites is at the Cyndi's List website (for example, there are plenty of others) - it's also free, it's kept updated, and it has many more links in more detailed cateogies. It fills the same purpose as this program, only does it better.

"Why can't I download to the folder I want it in?"
Pros: The one star is bogus, I had to use to submit this!
Cons: I wanted to put this in a sub-folder of "program Files", it would let me. I don't want to search for the program because I have too programs in Start->All Programs.
