This program provides an impressive number of PC-protection tools in an easy-to-use package. Geek Superhero's tabbed interface is a cinch to navigate, and the cartoon images of a nerdy-looking superhero add some flair. Any time a new program attempts to install itself, this utility lets you accept or reject it, which could be helpful in the fight against adware. The program gives you options for protecting your Internet Explorer settings, your Web connection, your Start menu, and your desktop. It also can safeguard you against Web bugs that track your movement. Clicking the icon next to each security option gives you detailed information about how the program protects your computer from a particular type of attack. The pop-up blocker performed well in our tests, although it couldn't handle floating ads. You can choose to allow pop-ups from a trusted site with a quick press of the Control key. In our analysis, anyone concerned with protecting their PC from malicious intruders can benefit from Geek Superhero.Publisher's description
From Headlight Software :Geek Superhero watches your computer for changes, and immediately notifies you when a change is made so you can confirm if you want to keep or reject the new setting. A computer-setting firewall is an excellent description for this application. Geek Superhero protects your browser's home page; helps you fix things if your browser has been hijacked; protects you from Phishing scams; lets you know if a new program is set to start when Windows starts; keeps your modem from being changed to dial expensive long distance numbers; and even catches many of the changes a virus, worm, or Trojan program will make to your computer. The application also includes other tools, such as a pop-up blocker, a Web-bug blocker to keep Web sites from tracking you, and an easy way to turn off Windows services that aren't used (and have been security holes or are just used to show you ads).
