Free Word/Doc Txt to Image Jpg/Jpeg Bmp Tiff Png, in spite of its atrocious name, is a simple program that allows users to convert text documents into images. The program is easy to use, but some users may be frustrated by its lack of options.

The program's interface is fairly sleek and attractive. Users add the files that they want to convert--Word, text, and RTF files are supported--and select which kind of image output they desire. The program includes nine output options, including JPEG, GIF, and BMP. The documents are converted with the click of a button and saved in a location specified by the user. The program contains no Help file, which is always a drawback, but the program's functions are intuitive enough that this is not a major problem. Although the program gets credit for being easy to use, it is very basic and does not include some of the options that users may be looking for. In particular, there is no way to specify the size or resolution of the output, which would be a great feature to have. Another issue is that the free version of the program, at least, does not seem to support the conversion of multipaged documents; all we got was the first page. Thus, the program is not a bad choice for users who need to occasionally convert single-page documents that don't need much adjustment, but users with more intensive needs may find that this program is too basic.

This program is free. It installs nicely, but leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.

It's easy to uninstall.

It watermarks the output and only converts very small files... until you pay, that is.
Summary
I don't have an issue paying for software; however, don't call it *FREE* software unless you're releasing it thus. This package does not work until you pay for it; therefore, it should be called: "Demo Version of Word/Doc Txt to Image Jpg/Jpeg Bmp Tiff Png 5.1" I'm willing to pay, but I feel suckered into installing it by their approach. It's a shame, because they might have a decent product; I'll never know.

Pros
It successfully converted an A4-size clip art from a Word 2007 docx file to a jpeg, enabling me to use it on my wysiwyg web-building program, which will only open images.
Cons
None that I know of yet, other than a nag screen when you exit, but that doesn't bother me, I'm grateful for it being free.

It works for standard and simple documents.
Cons
You cannot make any page setup and document's embedded page setup is not used by the software so when you try to convert a A5 image it creates an A4 image. It also does not seem to support page borders.

Pros
Only used it once for a simple Word document with text and one picture, but it worked flawlessly and the interface is totally intuitive. The free version only converts one file at a time but that's no problem for most users, I'm sure.
Cons
For XP, which I use, it required insertion of the Windows disc to obtain additional files. Unusual these days; could be a problem for some users. Also, program name is long and unwieldy; I shortened it during installation to "Doc to Img Converter".
Summary
I like free and easy-to-use utilities. This fits that description. One thing not mentioned above that I would like to see: there is no option to re-size the output image. Downsizing in a Photo Editor would not be difficult, but upsizing would degrade the image. The shareware (pay) version has additional features but I didn't try it so can't comment.
